  1. Hello

Looking for a bit of advice from the knowlwdgeable posters on this board. I am turning 60 soon and have noticed some increased thining in my crown after having been stable for many years. I have never taken any hairloss meds. Notably, I do have some degree of erectile dysfunction. My erections certainly are not "diamond cutters" anymore. As well, I do have an enlarged prostate, although not to the extent that I have sought treatment. My questions relate to the use of finasteride in older men.

    1. Do older men tend to have as good a results as younger men? If any older finasteride users are reading this post I would appreciate hearing about your experience (results/side effects).

    2. Somehow, against all odds, I have retained a decent amount of hair in my hairline area although a lot is minituarized but it seems too stubborn to fall out. I have read the odd account of people going through a massive shed after starting fin that doesn't regrow - particularly in the frontal zone. Any thoughts on this?

    3. My crown is my biggest concern at this point. I am considering a topical fin (maybe the xyon version) or another version that would be available to Canadians, as this would allow me to directly address the crown. At least in theory, a topical might reduce the risk of side effects. On the other hand, oral fin could potentially benefit all the hair on my scalp. If I opt for oral I was considering starting at .5 mg eod.

    Any thoughts/feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

P.S.   It would have been nice to discuss this with my PCP. However, when I phoned the clinic the other day, I was informed he closed his practice. Now I need to find a new guy which will be very difficult in my city.

  2. Dr. Wong has done some nice procedures on guys with fine hair. Check out the thread started by a patient who goes by the name Zaxter. I had an in-person consult with Dr. Wong myself a month ago. I'm interested in him because I have hair on the finer side and he seems to be able to achieve great coverage on fine-haired dudes. Really enjoyed my consult with him, he's an absolute beauty.

  3. Hello everyone.

I have a question in regards ro laxity. I recently had an in-person consult with a well repected doctor. I knew I had a tight scalp. I am unable to pinch any skin at all. Anyway he felt my scalp was too tight for strip surgery and thought the laxity exercises would not be of much benefit because my scalp is so tight. On a positive note,  he thought I would be a great candidate for FUE.  Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone with a really tight scalp, has managed to loosen it up enough that they were able to undergo strip surgery afterall.

    Thanks.

  4. Hi Zaxter

Was wondering how you're doing and if you have any current pictures to share.  I followed your case from the beginning and consider your transformation to be one for the hall of fame. In fact, your case and a handful of others are what finally convinced me to book an in-person consult with Dr. Wong next week ......... it only took 12 years of research lol. I have two questions:

    1) What led you to consult with and ultimately choose Dr. Wong as opposed to Dr. Hasson?

    2) Do you have any plans to address your crown?

    Thanks

  5. This is a beautiful result. I really love the design of your new hairline. That peak in the middle is sweet as it helps lower the overall appearance of your hairline. That's what I would like to do when I pull the trigger. I was wondering how much input you had in the design of your new hairline? Was the widows peak your idea or did Dr. Hasson suggest it?
