  1. In my case, three months on from surgery, I seem to have had little shedding (maybe 30%), and the transplanted hairs are starting to grow. I'm told this is unusal, and , according to Rugger, I'm a privileged "genetic mutant". Sounds like there's no definite rule.
  2. Definitely treat those grafts with care - the sun can be a killer. >>Fortunately (for HT patients), you don't see the sun very often here in the UK! >> (according to Hairworthy ) Personally, since my HT in May, almost every day has required a hat here in the UK. The sun's been fierce - rain in the North, drought where I live on the south coast.
  3. It's to foil those who might suspect he's had an HT.
  4. >> 2 main sources of testosterone: taking steroids (the kind bodybuilders take to gain muscle mass), and eating meat which is highly contaminated with hormone residues >> I always understood that the hormones used in fattening commercial beef and chickens is actually oestrogen or progestorone - the female hormone, so you're more likely to need a bra than suffer hair loss. Hairworthy: I have a similar dog, and now, instead of mounting female dogs at every opportunity, he always goes for the male dogs instead. Does your unitesticular experiment mean you now don't know which way to turn?
  5. socialdrinker: >> how "prickly" they would be. The implanted graphs just kind of seemed "stiffer" than the surrounding hairs >> I also found some stiffness, and a general sensitivity to touch in the scalp. Then today went for a swim in the ocean and exposed the scalp to the salt water for the first time since HT ( 2 months). Many folk swear by the healing power of the sea, and I must say, after showering and shampooing, the grafts feel as smooth as a baby's bottom. So get thee down to Myrtle Beach and dive in!
  6. Just had a quick scan, and it looks ..very interesting...all grist to the mill.
  7. Thanks for the reassurance lads. Rugger - you've blown my cover. I always knew I was a genetic mutant, in so many wonderful ways - but never dreamed it would extend to my scalp. "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind - never even considered for mass production" - Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
  8. How common is it NOT to have shedding grafts? I'm 2 months post-op, and it looks like most of the grafts are still in place; what's more they're starting to grow. This looks like a good sign, but as it's not what my surgeon told me to expect ( expect 'em to shed, restart after 3 months ) I contacted my surgeon's office about this but got no response. Maybe they think I need no reassurance, as it's proof of a good job. I'd appreciate some feedback from you gurus, avatars, kungfumasters, savioursoftheworld etc.
  9. >> Women walk around guessing whether or not other women have had implants. We look at hair. Speaking of implants, there are message boards just like this one but for breast implants. With pictures! >> Don't be bashful. Give us the link!
  10. Mike F - >> Joe, Hope you didn't take my commments in the wrong way. You guys are still at the top of my list >> Don't apologise to trying to better Joe's employer's prices ! He's got a declared interest in them.
  11. I'm glad Pat has left the links in this topic intact. While we must watch out for "plants", it's also necessary for "new to the forum" clinics to be recommended by name, otherwise the forum becomes incestuous, driving us all to the small circle of tried-and-tested guys ( and yes I'm glad my surgeon was one of these ). Could well be that Bedard does quality work at cheaper prices. Not an impossibility, when you consider the price we're currently charged. Caution by all means, but price competition can be healthy.
  12. dmm27 - A good question, and I'm surprised no-one has come forward. I have exactly the same question to ask, and tried to "start a new topic" for it, but the NewTopic button's currently disabled it seems. I had 3,500 grafts 6 weeks ago, and they (mostly) all seem to be in place, despite the clinic's information that "most of them will fall out after 4 weeks". I don't know whether their persistence is a good or a bad thing. Anybody ?
  13. HT mid-term grades test: If an HT patient had no hair to start with..... How could he be an HT patient ? ( i.e. no donor hair ) Am I missing something? Or does the doctor dig deep ( armpits, chest, soles of his feet.. )
  14. Had the opposite experience of Hairworthy, despite the same clinic, one month ago. After about 5 days my forehead swelled up around the eyes so that I bore a striking resemblance to Porky Pig for about 5 days, during which I skulked around behind wrap-around shades as well as the obligatory baseball cap. But it passes ( and you stop grunting, too...)
  15. Thanks for all the responses folks, especially the info from arfy - I really wanted technical information rather than just angry put downs of a scam, scam though it may be. Now I know my way around a bit. Didn't realise that there are other "hair mills" besides Bosley. Can anyone provide a list ?
  16. OK. Bosley is crap. But WHY ? With their resources, why would they do crap work, when others state that the FU process is simple & straightforward - you just cut out from the donor area, slice under the microscope into individual FU's and transpant. If Bosley don't actually do this ( ie what they promise in their materials ) it suggests that the technique is way above them, and not foolproof at all. Otherwise they'd use it, and avoid all the shit feedback. What I'm asking is "does the FU transplant technique have such a low probability of success that Bosley avoids it" ? If so, why, and how can other guys succeed where Bosley doesn't. By the way, I'd appreciate a synopsis of your HT history. Seems you had Bosley, but now your hair be growin. So who grow'd it then ?
  17. As a newbie, looking for HT, I naturally checked out Bosley's site, and on their "Expert Opinions" page they quote a glowing testimonial from "Biograft Hair Transplant Centers, of England". As I live in England, I'm curious to check these guys out. Couldn't locate them via Google, so I emailed Bosley with my problem, and could they let me have Biograft's address. A week later I got a lovely glossy Bosley brochure, plus a standard email reply, but nothing about "Biograft". Not encouraging.
