  1. Guys, It seems like quite a discussion going on concerning non FDA approved treatements, sorry I missed it. First let me say, I ordered the laser comb and have received it. My first impression is this seems to be a well made quality piece of equiptment. I began using it last night as directed. After a few minutes I can feel a warm feeling in my scalp, probably due to some effect on circulation that it induces. It felt so good I hated to stop it. This even persisted for a few hours after the treatment. I have taken some pictures to document my "before" condition and will post them shortly. From my first impressions I think it may have some potential, but only time will tell. I would like to comment on some of the things said about various treatments that members have brought up. My feelings are that there are many therapies out there that can help to certain degrees, even if not FDA approved. You have to understand, FDA approval entails a great deal on money, not many companies can afford this, a product must have to return quite a bit in revenues to be worth it, so many products never get to this point, its simply economics. Look at what happened to Avodart, the consensus it that it works but the company pulled the plug on further testing because it could not make them a pile of cash in the long run. This happens every day. My feeling is nothing out there can make a night and day difference in hair loss, not even rogaine and propecia, some get decents results, some get absolutely nothing in return. I think the key is to keep trying various types of treatments and see what works for you, while keeping costs to a minimum. If you find something that helps just a bit and is cheap continue to use it,and look for something else that helps just a bit, keep doing this until you come up with a regime that makes a nice difference while not costing an arm and a leg. A few hairs here, and a few hairs there can add up over time. No home runs but lots of base hits can end up winning a game, the name of our game is "hair loss". Don't sit at home and wait for someone to knock at your door with a cure for baldness, go out and find it yourself, try numerous treatments and start building up your hairline. I look around at various forums, seems like guys using non FDA treatment are getting some very good results, and they are not even using rogaine and propecia. I think you guys should be more open minded.
  2. I have purchased this on ebay twice and have had no problems, but stick with an established seller and you will be fine.
  3. Thank you guys for responding. Sorry I omitted some info but here it is. My friend is 47, he is a Norwood 2,not really much hair loss. He has no thinning elsewhere just recession at the temples. His family history is good, no one has gone beyond this stage so it is unlikely he will. He only wanted to bring up his hairline so this defects is pretty important to him. I am by no means an expert but it seemed to me going through a strip was uncalled for. I am trying to advise him best I can so that is why I asked guys on this board their opinions. I still think the doctor should not charge him for the repair, it should have been done properly the first time.
  4. Guys, A friend of mine had a transplant last summer. The doctor made one side of his hairline higher than the other, not really bad but noticeable. Anyway the doctor said he would even it out in 6 months once the hairline is established. It seems he will need about 200-250 grafts or so to even it out. The doctor told him he wants to do it as a strip surgery, but my friend does not want his scalp cut open again for such as small procedure. He asked me what I thought and I agreed based on what I have read on this forum. Do you think a strip is the way to go for only this amount of grafts, wouldn't it be overkill? Wouldn't an FUE be more appropriate? Also the doctor told he will be charging him for it, do you guys think that is right? Seems like this doctor is really not making good on his error.

  6. I know my pharmacist has the generic propecia available, but I chose the proscar generic since it was cheaper per dose.
  7. This is one of their links on ebay, they have a few listed all the time, all of them end up selling for $59-60. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-LASER-9-UNIT-Comb-your-Hair-again_W0QQitemZ250075272542QQihZ015QQcategoryZ31413QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  8. I heard of a product out there called Nano Shampoo, made by Dr.Proctor, it is supposed to be a natural form of minoxidil in shampoo form. I do not know much about it, but hear people on different forums think it is very good.
  9. HK500 Sounds good to me, I don't mind being a guinea pig. Will order it and document my progress. Mrjb If I had to spend $600 for the original I would not do it, but $60 is a different story, no big deal, I have wasted more than that on women and had nothing to show for it.
  10. Yeah, True is another pro. Lots of good doctors in NY area, great place to be bald, I guess.
  11. Thanks Mrjb, I do not eat much so $60 is way too much for me, probably be better spent on my hair, thanks for the suggestion anyway.
  12. Hi j12, have you considered Dr.Feller? I had 4077 grafts in Nov 2006, its been only 2 months now and I have hundreds of hairs coming in up front. I am very happy with my transplant, I think he is one of the best doctors around. Check him out.
  13. Welcome to the club. Feller gave me 4000 in Nov. Funny thing, he gave me the same line about using my pictures, maybe we will be the new generation poster boys for him. Mine are just over 2 months now and are sprouting everywhere.
  14. Thanks guys for your input. I am already using propecia and rogaine with pretty good results, so I was looking to add something else in to spice things up. At this price there really is no downside, I have thrown away much more than this over the years trying to grow hair. Really can't hurt and I may end up being surprised, there does seems to be some science behind it.
  15. I am looking into some of the laser combs on the market, most are very expensive but I have found one unit that appears very well made and very cheap. They have a website and also sell it on eBay. It has 9 individual lasers, 5mw each, seems more potent than the Hairmax which only has one and the price is only $60. What do you guys think, worth trying? WWW.GETWIREDDIRECT.COM

  17. yeah, I saw him too, made me forget about my problems, he was so weird!
  18. I think you will be very impressed with Feller, I cannot say enough about the surgery he performed for me.
  19. I have to agree, its not how fast you start but where you end. No one has control over mother nature.
  20. time to drop the dosage and save money and maybe my sex drive
  21. travel to the US and get the best work, those guys will butcher you.
  22. get it done in the US, cheap doctors, cheap work, you get what you pay for.
  23. I did not like either of them, I had my surgery with Dr.Feller. Why dont you go to the best he is in the same area???
