Regular Member Island Girl Posted February 2, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted February 2, 2006 I am 3 weeks post transplant, having had 2000 grafts done on my thinning top in one visit. I have noticed that I have had alot of hair loss of my existing hair ontop where the transplants were done. I was done by NuHart and they assure me this is part of the "Shock Loss" and my pre-existing hair will come back. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? Senior Member GuitarPlayer Posted February 2, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted February 2, 2006 Island Girl, Most patients experience some "shock loss," however, this varies widely depending on the skill of the physician. A skilled physician who is very meticulous in making his incisions will cause his patients much less shock loss. If the shocked hair is going to grow back, it should start growing back around the 2-3 month mark. I wish you the best of luck. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? As GuitarPlayer said this varies for the reasons he mentioned. Also, it is my understanding that, if the shock loss occurred to hair suseptible to Male Pattern Baldness, it may never come back. It's tough to determine. My first HT was similar to yours in that I had them fill in around existing hair on top and in front. I had substantial thinning of the MPB suseptible hair (shock loss). It's hard to say for sure but I don't think much of it grew back. I hope others reply to this but in my opinion this varies much and no guarantee that the hair will come back should be given. The good news is with 2000 on top, assuming you already have some hair to blend, even if a little shock loss occurs you should still have decent coverage. In my case, I only had 1200 and was pretty happy with the results!
