  1. Bill, Thanks for the "HI"! Unfortunately, I've been so busy working almost all the time that I dont have much time to spend at the computer when I get home. I HAVE to learn how to post a before and after picture, that is the only reason I haven't done that yet. I think you are doing a great job in this forum though! Keep up the good work, there are alot of people out there who cling to every word for encouragement like I did a couple of years ago. :-)
  2. Sandy, I went to the NuHart Hair Clinic and I was very happy with everyone there and with my results. It will be 2 years this winter and it has made a big difference in the way I see myself.
  3. Gorpy, I just looked at your before and after pics... all I can say is "WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!"
  4. Bill, Nothing new to report. I'm very happy with the results after a year and a half. As soon as I have some "Free time" (whatever that is) I will learn how to post some pics on here! Thanks for the note!
  5. Roderman, Yes, the hair that fell out from Shock Loss DID come back in addition to all my grafts taking hold sucessfully. I am very well pleased. It's been a year and a half since my HT and I would urge anyone to go ahead with it.
  6. ml, I live in Allentown, PA so I went to Lynn's Wig Boutique in Bethlehem, PA. She carries all good quality wigs and hairpieces and has a private room in the back where you can try them on without embarrassment of anyone else watching. I bought 2 "Noreiko" wigs from the shop, one shorter and one a bit longer. Both had blonde hair with dark roots and were VERY believable. NO ONE, and I mean no one thought that they were wigs. I even had Catherine, the owner thin them out for me. (She is a licensed beautician as well) Even people in my church thought that I had gone to a new hairdresser who did something "different" to my hair and I never had so many compliments on my "hair". I told my husband that there would be alot of disappointed people when I didn't have to wear the wig anymore! I had to wear it for 6 months so I figured that I might as well get a good quality wig. I think I paid about $350 for one and $300 for the other. Good luck and keep me posted. I would be happy to talk to you anytime about my HT.
  7. I am a female who has just passed that one year milestone. I had 2000 grafts done at NuHart Hair Clinic in King of Prussia, PA and I have never been so happy about anything I've chosen to do in my life. Everything has been so worth it; the initial pain in the beginning, the temporary embarassment from all the shock loss, and the $5000 spent have all been well worth the outcome of a great head of hair that I am no longer embarassed to have people look at. If there are any of you out there who are debating whether or not to go through with this procedure, DO IT. The boost in your self confidence is priceless. I have been coming back from time to time in this forum with questions and concerns and everyone has been so helpful to me with all the kind words of encouragement during those worst first 4 months. I want to thank EVERYONE who answered my posts from the bottom of my heart.

  9. Victo27, I had a tremendous amount of hair loss due to the shock loss in the beginning. I was beginning to wonder what I had done to myself but believe me it will all come back and then some! The first 3 months were the worst for me, and it's hard to be patient. I am 10 months post HT , I had 2000 grafts done and I am very pleased at the results. They tell me that new hairs continue to come in up to a year so hang in there!
  10. Bill, Thanks for your words of encouragement. I guess I should not complain about ANYTHING since at least now I have much thicker hair on top than ever! I guess I just have to hang in there till "the frizzies" go away! :-)
  11. I had a 2000 graft HT done 8 months ago at NuHart Hair Clinic in King of Prussia. Its been a long road with major shock loss in the transplanted area, but thankfully it all came back. I have a very nice thick crown of hair now, thank goodness but I am concerned about one thing. It seems that all the hair that grew in has come in FRIZZY. The hair is all about 2 inches long at this point. Has anyone else had this happen? Both the HT Center and my Hairdresser tell me that it will most probably straighten out after a while. Comments anyone?

  13. sandyh, I received a 2000 graft HT from NuHart Hair Clinic near Philadelphia on January 13. It has been a long road, but after almost 5 1/2 months the top of my head is so thick with hair that I want to do cartwheels! I had my doubts in the beginning when I lost so much of the pre-existing hair to shockloss but it all came back. All the transplanted hair is now about one inch long and I am so happy with it. I have used the Toppik and it's a pretty good product. I have tried a couple of other ones prior to the HT and was not really impressed. Toppik is about the best thing to use in my opinion.
  14. csofrank, I feel for you regarding the delimma you have of 'covering up' at work. I had a 2000 HT done in Philadelphia on January 13. After 5+ months of ups and downs, my hair is finally actually THICK ontop! Being a woman, I had another option that you probably dont have...I went out and bought a very good wig that closely resembled my own hairstyle before the HT. I told people at work that I had a "cyst" removed from the back of my head and since they had to shave the area, I had to wear the wig till it grew out. My "fib" got me through the last several months till my scalp healed, till the new transplanted hairs came in and till the pre-existing hair that I had on top came back after falling out due to a temporary shock loss. Hang in there...it's well worth it in the end!
  15. sandyh, Congratulations on having it done! I had a 2000 graft HT done in Philadelphia on January 13. It's been a long road with lots of ups and downs but at 5+ months now, my hair is finally becoming actually THICK on top! All those months of waiting are finally paying off! You are right...to be a woman who is loosing her hair and very thin on top IS devastating! I would recommend a HT to anyone who is bothered that much by the cards that nature has delt us. The really great thing is that the hair that was transplanted will be there forever since the hair from the donor site is programmed to never fall out!
  16. Worried, You are absolutely right....I DID have it done at NuHart, not MHR as I stated in my post. I guess I had a "blonde moment"! Hahaha. Thanks for your post!
  17. I am 4 1/2 months Post transplant, having 2000 grafts done at MHR. I am very happy with the dense hair appearing in the transplanted area, but there is a "quarter sized" area right in the middle area of the front that does not appear to be nearly as thick as the rest of the hair, even though I know that the transplants were all done evenly. Is this normal? Also, I am still having a considerable amount of ingrown hairs (painful bumps)after 4 1/2 months. How long is it normal to have these ingrown nuisances?

  19. jon quin Have you thought about asking these quacks for your money back since you have had no improvement at all? I would certainly go that route first...what do you have to loose?
  20. dhuge67... I understand exactly what you are going through, it's pretty scary! My drain got clogged in the shower at about 2 weeks after my HT with all the hair I lost. It was thinner than it's ever was but at 14 weeks post HT the hair I lost is coming back in again, thank Goodness! Keep the faith!
  21. Worried, That seems to be an awful lot for only 1000 grafts. I paid $5,000 for 2000 grafts at NuHart.
  22. Worried, I went through exactly the same thing you are going through right now at 2-3 weeks post HT. I was shocked to see the drain filled with hair that fell out about that time but the good news is that most of the time it DOES come back. I am 3 months post HT now, having had 2000 grafts done at NuHart. I am just now beginning to see positive results, but still a bit thin in the Shock Loss areas, however there is peach fuzz there now, so that is definitely a good sign. Everyone in here was very helpful and positive, so keep your chin up... better days are ahead!
  23. I agree with you, there are not many women in here. I had a 2000 Graft done 10 weeks ago and I am just now noticing some "peach fuzz" in the shock loss areas. I am also beginning to notice that the very short hairs that were transplanted are beginning to grow. Let me know if I can answer any questions.
  24. I am 9 weeks post HT and the top of my head is still very numb as is the area directly BELOW the donor area. Is this normal?
