didak004
Hello guys. I am new to this forum and I am after some advice in regards to starting on propecia. I am nearly 21 years of age, and my hairline has started to recede. It probably started when I was 19, but it was insignificant, so I thought it was my natural hairline, however, now it is definaterly noticeable. I have a father, grandfaher and many uncles who are completely bald, so I know where my fate lies! I am just wondering whether you think starting on propecia at this early age will help delay the onset of complete baldness. I am fine with the receding hairline, but I want to keep the stuff on top until I am at least 30! Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Regular Member andy79 Posted November 6, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted November 6, 2009 Please, start propecia! Try it out...I started in my early 20's too. And now I'm 30 and still have my hair. Trust me...30 comes faster than you think! Give it a shot if you can afford it.
Senior Member Maxxy Posted November 6, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted November 6, 2009 Welcome didak004! I'd also recommend trying Propecia, where as nobody can be 100% certain, I firmly believe that I would be at the high end of the NW scale by now had it not been for Finasteride. Maybe you could also look into Minoxidil (Rogaine)?
Regular Member Nick911 Posted November 7, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted November 7, 2009 Hey all, new to the forum, I have a very strong family history of baldness, grandparents, uncles, cousins, all bald in their early to mid 20's. I am now 27, at about 25, I started noticing my hair was thinning at my crown. I went to a MD specializing in baldness and he prescribed Propecia and Minoxidil 5% (extra-strenght). Well it has now been 8 months. After about 6 months, me and my wife noticed that I was not shedding hair anymore. My sink, hats, and pillow were all hair free. I can now fun my hands through my hair and pull, and no hair comes out. I recently saw the doc for the 3rd time. He showed me the before and after pictures. My hair is back!! I've easily grown back twice the hair I had before I started. I'm sold. All my bros (all younger than me), have lots most of their hair, me, you can't even tell I'm losing it. Side effects I've noticed: itchy scalp, sometimes pretty bad. I'm going to try Nizoral shampoo, hopefully that helps, but I'll take an itchy scalp over a bald one anyday. Go for it! Senior Member splitting hairs Posted November 13, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted November 13, 2009 I think its difficult to say how efective propecia will be in slowing hair loss in a young guy. Generally, the younger you start to lose hair, the faster you lose it. But the propecia trials showed the sooner you start propecia, the better it works for you, and it works for longer too. I think that the earlier you start propecia, the better. _________________________________________________ Propecia since July 2008 2201 Grafts with Dr Lorenzo on 19.10.22 - See my write up here:
