Hair loss following (non hair) surgery

Hey all

i had two surgeries to my foot - one a year ago; the other 3 months ago. They were both major surgeries (osteotomy, screws, ligament reconstruction etc). 

In both instances, I noticed significant hair loss/shedding a few months after surgery, usually at the 2-3 month mark.

Does this make any sense?? Is it normal??

any major surgery has the potential to put significant stress on your body

Hairloss can be a side-effect of putting too much stress on your body, no matter where on your body the area in question is

That being said, are you able to ask the operating surgeon this question?
