  1. hey all I am in Bogota for a few months, working on a project. There is a clinic here called "Total Hair" that does PRP and Mesotherapy treatments. Any thoughts on either treatment? How many sessions would I need? Any specific things I should look out for? Thx!
  2. Hey all is there a way to test which drug will have a positive effect on our hair? in other words a test for drug efficiency- kinda like allergies wondering if anyone took it or how I would go about it
  3. hey all I hopped on the oral minoxidil 2.5% bandwagon back in early December. I underwent two foot surgeries last year and my hair felt incredibly thin and wispy. I think it might be related to the surgery. Since taking the oral minoxidil I noticed quite a lot of shedding but no regrowth yet. I also noticed that the hair hasn't changed density in any noticeable way. Should I remain calm? Wouldn't it have kicked in by now??
  4. Just curious if anyone out there takes these? Or just your thoughts in general on these. The idea of it being all in one seems super convenient. Do you think these are just effective as taking finasteride in pill form and or oral or topical minoxidil? Obviously you're paying for the convenience monthly but l personally think it would be worth it. i also noticed that they put some supplements in the pill so in theory it really is just a one-pil-a-day solution.
  5. Hi all. For the past few weeks l've noticed lots of these hairs. In the AM, on my pillow, in my hands. Are they minoxidil shedding? MPB? Telogen effluvium? I'm thin all over and the texture of my hair has become very wispy. Note: I am recovering from two foot surgeries under general anesthetic within 12 months. I had a FUE transplant 5 years ago. I'm on propecia and oral minoxidil (the latter since October)

  7. Hey all I’ve been on fin for 15 years and luckily had zero side effects or issues. unfortunately I never noticed much improvement to my hair - unless we consider that I might have lost way more had I not been on fin. I’ll never know. regardless, I’m now losing ground (after undergoing one FUE hair transplant) and am thinking about switching to Dutasteride. Might I have more success on Dut than I did on Fin or are the two very similar re: patient responsiveness? similarly, should I expect side effects on Dut that I never had with Fin? I am a little concerned about the “non FDA approved” of it all and would appreciate some advice…
  8. Hey all i had two surgeries to my foot - one a year ago; the other 3 months ago. They were both major surgeries (osteotomy, screws, ligament reconstruction etc). In both instances, I noticed significant hair loss/shedding a few months after surgery, usually at the 2-3 month mark. Does this make any sense?? Is it normal??
  9. does this mean that the transplanted hairs will become "dependent" on oral minoxidil, should I stop treatment? I found a comment by two doctors, Rassman and Pak, who say that Minoxidil "should not cause shedding" and "minoxidil will not cause shedding of the transplanted hairs" https://www.realself.com/question/brooklyn-ny-minoxidil-new-transplanted-hairs-existing kinda freaked me out
  10. context: had a FUE transplant 5 years ago which mainly focused the front hairline and a bit of the mid-scalp. thrilled with it. very little change to transplanted area until a year or so ago when I started noticing a bit of thinning in the region. nothing crazy. because of this slight thinning I got onto 1.25 oral minoxidil. didn't notice anything: no shedding, no improvement. bumped up the dosage in September to 2.5 and in the past 3-4 weeks I am noticing little hairs when I towel dry. the hair looks thinner that it has ever looked post-transplant. what concerns me is that the thinning is happening in the area where the grafts are- hence my question about whether oral minoxidil affects the hair grafts themselves. I thought it would only affect follicles susceptible to DHT?
  11. Can oral minoxidil cause shedding of transplanted grafts? Or would shedding only affect native hair
  12. thank you. so it's not weird that I am shedding 4 months after starting the 2.5mg treatment? seems like a long time
  13. Is it normal for transplanted grafts to shed too during oral minoxidil treatment? Or would it just affect native hair?
  14. but is it common to shed this much so long after starting treatment? it's been a year since I started taking the 1.25mg (noticed no shedding but no improvements either) and 4 months since I "upgraded" to 2.5 mg...
  15. Hey all i started taking oral minoxidil (1.25) exactly a year ago. Didn’t notice any effects, good or bad. So I upped the dosage to 2.5 in September. i have been shedding like a mofo since then and am legitimately confused/concerned. does any of this make sense ? Is it “normal”? Btw I’m on propecia too.
  16. thank you Curious did you find that 2.5 produced good results? or not- and that is why you doubled the dosage?
  17. Hey all I just hopped onto the Oral minoxidil band wagon. My doctor suggested starting at 1.25mg for a few weeks and then moving up to 2.5mg if I don't see any side effects. The question is... might 1.25mg produce results? Is it a good idea to keep taking 1.25mg for 4-6 months and seeing if I am a lucky enough to see improvement on such a low dosage? Or would I be wasting time?
  18. what dosage are you on? for what it's worth, my cousin is a cardiologist and literally said "go ahead, see how it goes, the cardiovascular risks at low dose are negligible"
  19. thanks Melvin. will Oral Minoxidil do anything for miniaturization in the hairline? i.e. will it "thicken" visibly thin hair? or what is its major area of success?
  20. hey all I am about to hop on the oral minoxidil train and have a basic question: let's say in 12 months time I see serious regrowth. could I just stop taking oral minoxidil and stay on oral finasteride? my logic is probably flawed, but I just assumed the minoxidil is to regrow the hair and the finasteride is to maintain it...
  21. Hey al two questions: 1) assuming that one has the equal amount of hair loss in the hairline, mid-scalp and crown , where is the most efficient place to apply topical finasteride and topical minoxidil on the scalp? 2) does oral minoxidil have a better success ratio with the hairline than with the crown?
  22. hey all I am getting back on meds following a period of "let's see how I do with topical finasteride". Didn't work for me and I think my hair took a hit. I'm back on Propecia, Minoxidil, Nizoral and Foligrowth (hair supplements). Should I wait 3-6 months and see how I do one these before moving to something stronger like low-dose Oral Minoxidil or Dutasteride? Keep in mind that in my years of using Propecia, Minoxidil etc. I never saw any crazy growth (although I know realize that, more than re-growing, they were delaying hair loss)
  23. will do. any multivitamin? or something specifically with biotin? or just biotin?
  24. hey all, hope you're well. I had a FUE transplant approx. 4 years ago - I'm a NW 5. I switched from oral finasteride to topical finasteride a few months ago. I noticed that the density/quality of my transplanted hair has changed quite a lot over the past 4 years since having the procedure. For the first 2 years, it was thick, easy to style for maximum coverage, and generally gave me the appearance of a full hairline. However, over the past 2 years I am noticing the hair is noticeably thinner, stringier and it grows unevenly: in other words, some parts grow more than others. I am still happy with the result and with some careful shampooing, combing etc. I look like I have hair. But I am curious if my experience is "normal"- if it's a cycle that will re-set at some point, if I need to be taking hair supplements, etc. thank you!
