Regular Member Bamboo Posted December 28, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted December 28, 2023 (edited) I’ve posted elsewhere on this forum about trying to minimise the ugly duckling phase. I have multiple linear scars from botched operations going back to the 80s so my ugly duckling would be particularly ugly. I have very limited donor so a full shave for any future transplant is unavoidable. One thing I’m considering is getting SMP before my next surgery. The hope is that I would have the illusion of coverage a couple of weeks after surgery and for the months before growth kicks in. Any thoughts? Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted December 29, 2023 Valued Contributor Share Posted December 29, 2023 I've had SMP and this prior to surgery. I had it to attempt to camouflage scars from previous botched surgery from when I was very young. I think this would be it's greatest benefit to you. However I think the best reason for having it is to create a greater illusion of density for your hair once it has grown out (especially indoors). It probably will help during the ugly duck phase. But if you are say a Norwood 6 or 7 your native hair will grow as your transplanted hair waits to catch up. All the best. 2 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
