What's fair number of grafts?

I'm in my late 40s. Notice hair recession starting fees years ago.

Gone to few hair transplant doctors. Quoted anywhere from 1500 to 2500 grafts. 

So not sure which number is right. My guess would be closer to 1800?

Being completetely honest with you i think your hair looks great, you dont need a hairtransplant.

I have the same hair as you with slight recession in the temples and I'm 27. Since you are above 40 and with very minimal hair loss you can safely get a ht if the temples bother you. Probably 1000-1500 grafts max, but even now your hair is perfectly fine.

2500 seems like a lot unless the middle is thinning too. It's hard to tell from these pictures. If it's just hairline and corners work then it shouldn't be more than 1500 grafts.

Thanks for the comments.  I think 1500 grafts maybe the right number. I would consider myself a norwood 3 but I have coarse hair and have a little long so it's hard to tell.

These graft estimates confuse me! I’ve less loss than you (I think) and I’m booked in for 1800 in January… Fuegenix even suggested 2300. 
not sure what to say but I’d imagine 2000 going off my estimates… 🤷🏻‍♂️

I kind of think it's also depending on the doctor on how they use the graft and building up density.

Can be cost too. More grafts more money .

Fuegenix is a great clinic, so they are not trying to scam you or something. One reason that clinics could be suggesting more grafts is because you have great hair for your age and they can go more aggresive with the hairline. Also your natural hair density is high so if they want to match it they will need more grafts.

Yeah it really depends on what the goals are.
