HT prospects - seeking guidance

Recommended Posts

I am 46 years old. I started to observe hair loss around my age of 33. Following are my current photos.

  1. Am i a candidate for HT?
  2. If so what NW grade improvement i can expect with HT. I guess i am NW6 now??
  3. What may be a possible graft number contribution from my donor area if any?
  4. Which surgeons in Toronto may be able to help?  Dr. Rahal, Dr. Gupta?

Any help/ guidance is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

If say you're a 6, heading to 7.

Your donor area does look pretty good from what can be seen on the photos.

Have you tried medical therapy yet? It could well save you many grafts.

I'd say you're a candidate, but it'll be a long and expensive journey - 2 or 3 surgeries). There are several excellent doctors who specialise in high Norwoods. Many great results can be seen on this forum. I'd suggest looking at Dr Sethi, Pittela, Zarev as top tier. There are other less expensive doctors ( Hattingen, Laorwong etc) but lower than that, the chances of a great result would be less.

You are a NW 7 and to get full coverage you wil need at least 7000 grafts. Your donor area doesnt look that bad but i think you are a candidate for an fut megasession. In your place i would cover the hairline and midscalp and leave the crown as it is. For the best advice and possible ht in canada i would strongly advice to have a consultation with dr. Wong from Hasson and Wong in Vancouver.

Most hair transplant doctors would diagnose you as a stage 6 or 7 MPB. It appears that you have at least average density in the donor hair. However exact density is not able to determined from a photo. I recommend if you decide to have a hair transplant you only have work done in the frontal and mid scalp areas with a conservative hairline. You may not have enough donor supply to fix the crown but can certainly make a big appearance change. You would likely need 2 or 3 procedures to maximize your results. it looks like you have advanced through the male pattern balding phases early in life so it is debatable if meds would have enough benefit for you compared to the potential side effects.

Hello,

On 14Mar24, i went through FUT transplant 2500 grafts for the frontal area at Dr. Aditya Gupta’s SureHair Clinic in Sacarborough. The team of Doctors, Dr. Gupta, Dr. Ming, Dr. Cindy were great. It was an arduous, time taking procedure for them to perform. I am thankful to the team for their support and care.  Here are my the photos on the day of surgery:

Thank you for coming back to let us know you went through with a hair transplant. Keep us updated on the progress. Do you plan on going back later to fill in the crown?

i may go back for mid-section, although depends on the results of coverage from this transplant and Doc’s opinion on the donor area capacity.

Yes. That’s normal. Most of the transplanted hair falls out in that time. You will start growing new hair sometime around 3 to 4 months after the transplant.
