I have been smoking for 4 years, I remember long time back in some article that smoking causes hairloss in most cases. Is that true? if it is how bad will that affect the hairloss?

Reds,

Though it's beneficial to quit smoking for the benefit of your overall health, there are millions of smokers with a full head of hair.

Additionally, many people who smoke have had successful hair transplants and maximum growth yield. Most clinics will advice to quit smoking for a period of time prior to surgery. The period of time varies from clinic to clinic.

Smoking can slow down the healing process and possibly increase the risk of infection. Also, since smoking decreases oxygen delivery in small blood vessels a, some physicians have expressed concern about decreased graft survival rates in densely packed patients.

However, the scalp is extremely vascular and I haven't seen any reported problems from patients who smoke.

Best wishes,

Bill
