Senior Member Cant decide Posted February 17, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 17, 2009 I have set up an appointment with Dr. Feller in NY. I know he has a great reputation but I was wondering what type of questions/issues I should raise with him in the following respects: 1. What type of sutures are optimal for the donor area and what does he use? 2. Does he perform Trichophytic Donor Closure and is this the optimal technique? 3. What is the optimal blade to use in removing the donor area? What does he use? 4. What is the best intrument to use on the transplanted areas and what does he use? Any other information that you may have would be helpful. Thanks My Hairloss Web Site - Procedure #1: 5229 Grafts with Dr. Rahal Oct, 2010 Procedure #2: 2642 Grafts with Dr. Rahal Aug, 2013 7871 Grafts http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=2452

Senior Member mmhce Posted February 17, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 17, 2009 Can't decide, These are some topics that you can start with: 1.consideration of the patient's goals (long-term and short-term), 2.the current level of hair loss, 3.the worse-case-scenario level of hair loss, 4.the hair supply versus demand, 5.donor hair density, 6.follicular density, 7.scalp laxity, 8.hair shaft diameter, 9.wave/curl of the hair, 10.hair/skin contrast, 11.whether or not a patient is on an oral or topical therapy to retard hair loss, etc. I have not thought about asking questions concerning blade size, so you've raised a good point there. Most if not all Coalition doctors practice the trichophytic closure technique, but still ask him. take care...
