Murilo
Hello All! I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who contributes to this forum. The knowledge and support that can be found here is essential for anyone embarking on this journey. I have learned so much from the posts and discussions. I would now like to share my own HT journey with you all. BackgroundI'm 30 years old, have been experiencing hair loss for almost 7 years now. I have been using 1mg fin and 2,5mg oral minoxidil since feb/23. Doctor Search Since I wasn't comfortable traveling for the procedure, I decided to do it in Lisbon. My first choice was Dr. Bruno Ferreira, due to the amazing reviews that you can find here on the forum. I waited almost a year for the physical consultation, and he really impressed me: the structure of the clinic, the staff, himself, everything. Unfortunately, I had a budget of 10k€ for the HT, and the number of grafts that I needed would cost around 15k€. After that, I started looking for other options and found the LHR Clinic in Lisbon. They have good reviews on their website, but Dr. Augusto is not known here on the forum. I went for a consultation with him and decided to move forward because: 1 - Consistency between his feedback for my case and that of Dr. Bruno Ferreira. 2 - Similar suggestion for the HT (location, number of grafts, managing expectations for density, etc). 3 - He himself would lead the whole HT procedure. 4 - Only one procedure a day. 5 - It was within my budget haha (they asked for 5k€) The procedure Everything happened in one day; in the morning, they extracted the hair from the donor area, followed by a 30-minute break, and finished with the hair implantation of around 3400 grafts. The clinic itself has a good structure, pleasant, and comfortable. The staff was great, attentive, kind, constantly asking if I was comfortable or needed anything. Dr. Augusto suggested a hairline lower than what I had in mind and addressed my concerns about the density. He proposed that we also implant in the crown area after prioritizing the front. The procedure was largely pain-free, except for the anesthetic injections themselves. We started around 08 am and finished everything around 15 pm. Since I live near the clinic, I was safely resting at home before 16 pm. Dr. Augusto was the main one working, but he had 1 technician working with him in the extraction/implantation during the whole process. In the room with us, we had 3 more technicians helping count, measure, and separate the extracted grafts. Pos op The clinic provided me with comprehensive instruction documents, guiding me through each post-operative period: the first 4 days, days 5-15, and so on. Additionally, they offered 24/7 WhatsApp support during the first week. Along with these instructions, they gave me an ATP bottle and advised me to spray it on the donor area every hour, even during the night (which wasn't an issue since I couldn't sleep much anyway, haha). Despite the ATP treatment, my experience closely resembled what I had read on the forum: sleeping at a 30-degree angle to protect the transplanted area, avoiding touching it, and keeping the donor area clean. I won't lie; not being able to sleep properly for several days was very challenging, especially as I could only take two days off from work. The first week was quite tough to manage. However, now that I'm on day 16, I'm happy to report that the pain, swelling, and sensitivity have reduced by almost 90%. Although the transplanted area still feels strange, and there is some heightened sensitivity in certain donor areas, overall, I'm gradually improving. I haven't noticed a lot of shedding yet, but I have observed some shock loss in the donor area. So far, I'm really happy with how the HT is improving. However, I'm sure that it will only be around the first 4-5 months when I will start knowing if it was worth it! Since we don't have any other reviews from Dr. Augusto here, I would appreciate your comments and knowledge about the results so far Here are some photos of the pre-op and post-op: Pre-op post-op day 0 day 1 day 15 Thank you for reading! I will try to update with the 1 month mark BR, Murilo
