Dr Jean Luc Portelli - Malta - 2500 Hybrid FUE Procedure (Sapphire + DHI)

Recommended Posts

Last December 2022, I underwent a hair transplant procedure under the care of Dr Jean Luc Portelli. I wanted to get a hair transplant as I was noticing some male patterned baldness in the frontal areas of my scalp, which had become more prominent along the years. Having the procedure done locally without the necessity to travel abroad, made my decision much easier. This whole journey started with the initial consultation with Dr Portelli himself, where a thorough explanation of the procedure was given, answering any pertaining questions I had along the way. It is worth mentioning that prior to this consult, I had already been taking 1.25mg of Finasteride for a total of 5 months. After an extensive, patient-centred discussion, we decided that a total of 2500 grafts needed to be implanted in various parts of my head, primarily the crown, temple and the frontal areas, using the DHI and FUE technique, respectively.

On the day of the procedure, a final assessment of the areas to be treated, was conducted, marking the areas of interest accordingly. The entire procedure was conducted entirely by Dr Portelli and his assistant. He conducted every part of the procedure from administering anaesthesia, extracting and eventually implanting the grafts themselves. There were no pre/intra/post operative complications and the whole experience was practically pain free. I remained in contact with Dr Portelli following the procedure, where he continuously reassured me on a daily basis whenever I felt unsure about anything regarding post-op care.

It has already been 3 and a half months since the transplant and I can safely say that it was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. Despite such a short period of time has passed, I already have a prominent hairline once again. I would also like to remark on the fact that my donor area has recovered fully and there are no signs of scarring whatsoever.

In conclusion, I would recommend Dr. Portelli to anyone who is still skeptical of such a procedure as it not only boosted my self esteem but enhanced my daily mood altogether.

Good evening all.

With reference to the above comments, I genuinely don't understand why highlighting the key points of a lengthy post, could have been interpreted as an ad written by a clinic.

Following the consultation with Dr Portelli himself, I became interested in the topic even further, becoming as a result, well versed in the subject at hand. Being a doctor by profession myself, with a special interest in aesthetics, made it even more appealing to inform myself and read up on such a targeted, niche field of medicine, which is increasing in popularity year after year .

Ecstatic with the results at hand after such a short period of time, it was only natural to praise Dr Portelli for the optimal results obtained so far.

In addition, I intend to continue updating you all with regards my ongoing journey, uploading progress pictures in the coming months.

Last but not least, I would like to thank Mr Melvin, the Administrator of this Forum, for the opportunity he has given myself and others who underwent such a procedure, to share our experiences with such a great community of individuals.

looking good ,

how much does this clinic charge per graph, thanks

im interested in dhi as not mad on the idea of shaving my head, but wouldnt rule it out

Hi!

I think he roughly charges between 1-1.5 euros per graft,  but it obviously depends whether it's DHI, Sapphire etc.

Hey man, I see sapphire incisions coming up a lot lately. Are these now better than the older blades that were used ?

I believe the healing is faster with the new sapphire blades but I think DHI heals faster overall.

Perhaps, Melvin could shed some light on this particular topic.

No, it’s just a tool. Like DHI it’s marketed as some fail-proof thing. It’s not, it’s just a tool. Only as good as the person using it.
