Regular Member Sunset Dune Posted February 24, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted February 24, 2023 Does having a long beard affect the hair transplant surgery at all? Is it recommended to be clean shaven for surgery?
Rahal Hair Transplant
@Sunset Dune Is the surgeon extracting hair from your beard to transplant into the balding areas on your scalp? Alternatively, our hair is being harvested from your scalp or other areas of the body and then being transplanted into your beard? Unless your beard hair is being used in anyway during the procedure, the length of your beard doesn’t make a difference. Traditional hair transplant surgery involves taking hair from the sides and back of your scalp and moving it to the top using one of several potential techniques. Most people today are undergoing FUE (follicular unit extraction) because it’s far less invasive and eliminates the linear scar associated with FUT or strip surgery. However, regardless of whether you’re undergoing FUE or FUT, if your beard is not being touched during the procedure then it won’t matter whether you have a long, short or no beard. I hope this helps. Rahal Hair Transplant Rahal Hair Transplant Institute - Answers to questions, posts or any comments from this account should not be taken or construed as medical advice. Regular Member Rafael Manelli Posted February 25, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted February 25, 2023 You won't have to do anything. If the clinic needs to use your beard they will shave it for you.
