Regular Member thebullyeagle Posted October 24, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) My hair on one side has been receding faster now and I don't know what to do. I'm thinking about using minoxidil from Walmart but don't know what brand to buy. I also am using castor oil right now cuz I don't want to be to dependant on minoxidil cuz I heard once u start u can't stop or it will fall out again. I showed pics of my thinning receding part verse my thick healthy side of hair. Im only experienc hairloss on one side of my hairline.I first started noticing in on oneside where my edges were falling out.then the actual hair around it started thinning then receding. Pls help I'm only a teen. What should I use from a local convenience store cuz my parents won't let me order anything online cuz they think it's a waste. Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted October 24, 2022 Valued Contributor Share Posted October 24, 2022 I'm so sorry to hear about your anxiety with your hair. The first thing I would do is throw away the castor oil as it's just an old wife's tale and will do nothing for hair loss. Secondly going by your photos I don't really see any hair loss. Your hairline may most likely be maturing. The best thing to do is not to panic and to see your GP for a referral to a dermatologist and have him/her look at your hair. Senior Member mafpe Posted October 25, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted October 25, 2022 any brand is usually fine, and there is no one stop solution for baldness yet. the meds only holds your hairline as long as you are using it, there hasn't been any solution that let you retain your hair and not use any meds. the closest is a transplant, and chances are you could still lose them if you don't use meds. baldness can start happening to us at an early age, i myself have started shedding heavily and lose hair from 15 as well. his concern might or might not be warranted, but valid nonetheless. hopefully it's just temporary or stress induced instead of MPB, but it's still a possibility. Regular Member Fabulous Posted October 25, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted October 25, 2022 I started to lose hair at 15-16 and tried several topicals like: castor oil, argan oil, petroleum based oils, even garlic. None of them worked. The only thing that helped me get more density and actually slow the progression of the hair loss was minoxidil. In the beginning I even grew a lot of hairs. The only problem I had with it was that after 3-4 years it started to lose it's efficacity. I'd say to start with minoxidil(the brand doesn't matter) and maybe some Zinc and Biotin supplements if your budget allows. I would stay away from finasteride at your age , minoxidil could be enough to keep what you currently have an start fin at 18+.
