Regular Member didu911 Posted June 26, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted June 26, 2022 Got question that, but hard for me to answer. If a Norwood 5 recieves a transplant all over his head and starts with medication in the same time (Fin+Minox), is the medication able to improve things next to the transplant or will the transplant likeley destory the weak follicles? It depends on the extent to which the hair follicles on the scalp have miniaturized. If the hair follicles can be saved and revived with the use of finasteride then the new grafts are not planted over them. The new grafts are transplanted in between the pre existing hair. These pre exiating hair will receive support from Finasteride if it is taken. The use of finasteride will also prolong baldness as well as sustain the transplanted hair. If you do not have any side effects from the use of finasteride then you can use it along with a transplant procedure. It will be beneficial to you. In rare cases, people experience further baldness even with the use of finasteride but it is not common. You can use finasteride for 8 to 12 months and evaluate its results in your case.
Regular Member SilentUser Posted June 26, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted June 26, 2022 Question is why did you not start earlier with medical treatment when you already progressed to a NW5? IMO you should always get on medication first before getting a transplant.
Regular Member Adier Posted June 27, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted June 27, 2022 Transplant is done in between follicles having enough space between. Most good hair transplants which include the density as well as the asthetic appearance is a combination of finasteride and hair transplant. So yes medications+ HT will definitely improve the overall appearance if and if only the hair follicles are not thinned to a point finasteride can't thicken.
