Senior Member Abedogg Posted January 4, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted January 4, 2009 Guys, I know there is a ton of discussion about FUE vs Strip - and rightly so. However, I've made a decision to go with Umar in February. I will keep all of you posted on my results. Here are a couple of pics to show my current state. I also would love to hear your feedback on below. 1.) Dr. Umar has used nape hair in the past to create a soft hairline. I know this is controversial. Thoughts? 2.) I'm not looking to lower my hairline too much, but I do have a baldspot on the side of my head. Anybody know how many hairs it will take to fill this? 3.) What results should I expect with 3k grafts? Just to note for those that are curious. I'm 30 yo and I've been on propecia for about 4 years and I recently stopped rogain due to itchiness of the scalp. Its been about a month and I haven't lost anything. I was on rogain for around 2 years and it didnt' do much. Thanks for your replies and again I will keep you all posted. Senior Member Eman Posted January 5, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted January 5, 2009 Your donor looks strong from the pics, but know that I am not a doctor. About nape hair, take a look at someone say your grandfather's age and look at how hair has "receded" up in the back. I feel nape hair is susceptible to DHT and will and can be lost, where hair in the "safe zone" donor area is DHT resistant. That I think is the reason most docs stay away from nape hair. The bald spot should be able to be filled with a few hundred grafts. And 3K grafts will fill in the temple area and hairline nicely. I do like the work I have seen ny Dr. Umar, but do not agree with the use of nape hair. A good doctor can create a soft hairline with singles from the "safe zone". My initial HT thread: done and done!! Check it out...

BobbyZ36
Hi Abedogg- Looking good so far. Did Umar use nape hair at your hairline? I'm curious to see results from docs that do this. Seems like the way to go.
