Persistent Numbness in recipient 9 months post-op. Does this picture look like permanent damage?

I had a sub-par surgery with a doctor in January this year which I'm hoping to get corrected. Full sensation has returned in the right side but not the left (there was a different doctor working on this side)

I'm worried that there might be permeant damage (Was never warned about this!). We're currently in lockdown and I can't see see him again. The pictures shows a darkened area that looks borderline necrotic (though the skin looks fine now). Does anyone have any advice?

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. If you want to give us a more complete picture, show us some photos of your scalp/hair before the procedure, post-op, and what it looks like now. I agree that this doesn't look great and the work doesn't look refined. It's also not common in the slightest to lose sensation in the recipient area, and experiencing numbness 9 months out is definitely something to be concerned about.

As Asterix said, I would seek out a dermatologist to get their input on the numbing sensation, as well as scheduling a consultation with some highly vetted and recommended Hair Transplant surgeons from this forum. You mentioned being in lockdown, but most surgeons will do virtual consultations, and I would try to speak with a few of them about this as soon as you can so that you can start getting some answers.

I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My views/opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.
