hair loss 18 yr old - hair loss?

Hi, 

I have been noticing some scalp showing on the back of my head and was wondering whether you think that it is normal or not. Also since I am 18, should I start getting some sort of medication or something or should I wait.

Take another set of photos and comb your hair out of the way.  It could be nothing or it could be something.  My first suggestion is find out if there is family history of hair loss.  If there is, go to a reputable hair transplant clinic, (or a dermatologist), and see what they say.  Depending on the outcome you can get started with some medical therapy.

Have you started seeing some recession the frontal hairline?

In the area of the crown the hair grows in all directions out from a point.  The hair does not shingle like it does in the middle and the front.  So this could actually be whirl issues and not thinning.  Nothing wrong with finding out and being proactive.
