Bill - Seemiller
Many people want to know what happens immediately after hair transplant surgery. While it is always best to follow your hair restoration physician's advice, we recently answered this question on our Hair Loss Q&A Blog. Go to "Will Harsh Brushing to Alleviate Scalp Itch After Hair Transplant Surgery Damage the Grafts?" to see the original question and response. We encourage you to offer your own response as well here on this topic. Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member buzzbee Posted January 29, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted January 29, 2018 Hi Bill, thanks for the article. You wrote "However, your scalp needs time to heal, and harsh brushing or itching with your nails can damage your scalp., thus your scalp will take a longer time to heal." How much time in general does it take the scalp to heal in normal circumstances (i.e. without harsh brushing)? My Hair Loss Website
Dr. Glenn Charles
Once all the scabbing is gone and the scalp skin has retuned to its normal color it is safe to use brush on scalp. I do warn patients that any original hairs in the transplanted area will be more fragile for a while and they should brush/ comb hair with caution so not to cause any unnecessary shedding.
