Does Norwood 7 can do hair transplant? (Looking to fill temples ONLY).

Hello,

 

I'm 54 years old, norwood 7 since I was 27, i have also been thinning in my sides\nap area\ and even the donor.

 

However, my donor and sides looks the same for over 20 years, which means the thinning has been stopped.

 

I see most people that norwood 7 doesn't have thick sides like norwood 2 for example.

 

My question is, since my donor is not thick, but I do know the hairs that remain there are DHT resistant, would it be possible to take ONLY 2,000 grafts?

 

I'm not looking for anything special, just to have some hair at my 1\3 which will also be thinning, I don't mind,

i'll be totally honest with you, forget a transplant you are not a candidate AT ALL your hair loss is at the end of the norwood scale your donor is extremely weak, you will be WASTING your money and id be very surprised if anyone here disagrees with me

Yes, my donor is weak, however, 1,000-2,000 grafts are impossible?

 

The reason I ask is because I'm going to wear hair system again, and I would like to fill my temples and if possible the first 0.5-1cm max in my hairline.

 

I do not mind if scar will be seen because i'm wearing a fullcap hair system (Which means for the entire head including sides and back).

 

When I see results of 2,000 grafts for example, I don't see how I can't have that amount (Again, if I don't mind if scar will be seen at ALL).

 

If a doctor will take about 750 grafts each side of my head via FUE and 1 strip at the back, i'm sure that even 3,000 grafts are possible.

 

am I missing something here? Because after all, I ain't asking to transplant my entire head which I know is not possible, I just want to transplant my temple points and the first 1 cm of my head.

i dont think many of your donor hairs would even survive the trauma of a transplant as they are so weak, why would you even bother just filling in the temples if your going to wear a full system? i honestly cant believe your considering a transplant tbh and talking about have FUE and FUT is pure crazy your head will look disfigured seriously mate go to a DR and hes going to tell you the same, you will be turned away from all the Top Drs here, YOu are one of the most NON-Candidate iv seen

What you are asking for is reasonable for many patients. I have seen this request before and I have performed it several times. Creating a natural hairline with real hair is always the best way to wear a hair system. Your scalp donor does indeed appear to be lacking based on your photos. In your case however I would ask if you have a plentiful supply of body hair, such as chest or back hair? If you do then this may be a solid resource to consider. Can i ask you why you would use body hair for a hairline? We both know the quality is poor and it's length is short, for a crown yes it's ok for infilling but for a hairline ?

Yes, I totally understand what you mean, however, my donor (Sides and back) looks exactly the same for over 20 years, does it means they are still weak or those hairs that actually survived during all those years will stay for ever? When I look at my father who's 90's, and norwood 7 of course, his sides and donor area also not as thick as someone who never lost a single hair, however, He has enough hair for 2000 grafts that's for sure (Incase you consider that scar probably will be slighty visible).

 

The reason I consider to have hair transplant to my temples and hairline is because that without it the fullcap will look like a wig, however, with it, it's 100% undetecable.

I also must say that in those photos the hair looks much weaker than it is in real life, if i grow it for about 2 weeks it may look better, but still thin compared to others.

 

I can tell that you want me to avoid a surgery and i totally get your point and actually may listen to you, however, I don't see how it wouldn't work when the hairs I got left in my donor are 100% permanent (Since I didn't lose a single hair there for over 20 years as I mentioned), and also the reason that scar is no an issue because I will cover it with a fullcap system.

 

I really want to know what you think, your opinion is important for me

 

 

 

Dr.Bhatti, thank you for the offer, but body hair won't look natural for my temple points\hairline, I do have a lot of body hair and very very veryyy thick beard, however those hairs are too thick for such a fine place, thanks for the offer though!

I understand what your trying to achieve with the system looking natural, you have to understand that just because your donor has remained the same for 20 years dosent make it “safe” it’s become very weak and if you cut that follicle out and transplant it elsewhere the chances are very high that it will not survive, hair transplant on people with your level of baldness do very poor I’ve seen it mate, I can’t tell you what to do but if I had your head 100% I would not waste my money as I know the outcome

 

If you were 54 Norwood 7 and has really strong thick donor my opinion would be different

 

Remeber even a hair transplant is only temporary it might buy you an extra 5-20 years but eventually the inevitable will happen as you age

So basically what you say is, if I go for the HT route, the grafts that will be taken from my donor will not survive 100%? None of them? Even if my donor looks the same for all those years?

The regrowth rate of transplanted grafts by FUE is more than 90%. However, we must bear in mind that all hair loss occurs over time. This includes hair loss in the donor area. Accordingly, since transplanted follicles are from the donor area, regardless of the positive outcome of hair restoration surgery, one may experience a 10-15% loss of the transplanted hair as well. However, this is over a lifetime. Therefore, the idea of a “safe donor” area is unfounded. If your donor is weak and your hairs have less of a chance of survival rate

 

Hair transplantation is an art, the art of illusion. As in all aesthetic surgery, there is no standard, nor is there a guaranteed satisfactory result for everyone for the whole lifespan. We are essentially all just trying to steal some years away from real life.

 

I do not recommend you get surgery at all but it’s your descions that’s my final opinion in the matter all the best

1k to 2k would leave you incredibly unsatisfied.

 

For a sense of perspective, I'm a Norwood 3A pre-transplant and it took almost 7k graft to reframe my face and provide the cosmetic density I desired to restore the frontal third.
