Rogaine before FUT

I am booked for an FUT in about 3 months.

 

I was originally only using finasteride, but I plan on adding rogaine to my treatment regimen.

 

Is it worth starting now, even if I know I'll have to stop for some weeks around my FUT in 3 months, or should I just wait after the FUT before starting?

Well, you definitely want to run that question past your surgeon before you decide.

 

But here's the deal. For some individuals, it's the "initial first time use" of minoxidil that sometimes can induce a shed cycle and that shed can potentially last for several months or more.

 

So if you were affected by a significant shed just before your upcoming procedure, that would not be a good thing. I am not saying that you would for sure respond that way, but there is no way of predicting it.

Hmmm... I guess I'll hold off then.

 

I don't think 3 more months of Rogaine in my lifetime would make such a difference anyways ahah!

I've read that a lot of guys prior HT is advised to stop Min / rogain a wk or two before surgery, so there must be a valid reason for this, that maybe somebody can chime in on.

I think you need to consult with your dermatologist first.
