Regular Member Bubba5539 Posted June 14, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted June 14, 2016 Hello, I have some pitting right in the front of my hairline from a transplant. I have looked into lasers, but get conflicting information on whether I have to shave, additional risks of making the area worse, etc. Has anyone had or seen laser treatment done successfully for pitting without having to shave the area? Short of lasers, has anyone heard of at home remedies for pitting actually working? Derma rollers, creams lotions with massage, etc. Thanks
Senior Member gillenator Posted June 14, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted June 14, 2016 For slight pitting, derma rollers can greatly improve the surface, but it really depends how acute the pitting is. Seeking the advice of a HT specialist who has a solid background or foundation in dermatology would be highly recommended. Regular Member Bubba5539 Posted June 16, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 16, 2016 Thanks. Some of the multi hair grafts where there are pits look like little black pimples at the base of the hair. Would an improvement in the pitting help the look of those grafts, or is that a separate issue that requires they be plucked or removed another way? Regular Member Bubba5539 Posted June 17, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 17, 2016 Attached. Tough to see because of the native hair, but the black dots are where multi hair grafts are protruding from pits. Looks alright at some angles and lighting and awful in others. My concern is, do I address the pitting or the multi hair grafts first, or will a treatment help both at once. I am thinking of just pulling the grafts out myself, but not sure if that will make it worse.
Senior Member gillenator Posted June 17, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted June 17, 2016 Bubba, It was hard to see any detail close up with the photo you posted. Is it possible to post some that have a closer more clear view of the area? Also, if multi-hair bearing grafts were placed in your hairline, that was inappropriate for sure. How many days or months are you post-op? And lastly, I would not recommend that you pull out these grafts. Regular Member Bubba5539 Posted June 20, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 20, 2016 It is very hard to capture with a picture, but attached is another one. There is pitting in the very front especially, and then there are dark spots at the base of multi hair grafts. I am trying to figure out if they are related or separate. In other word, will fixing the pitting fix the graft appearance, or will removing the grafts fix the pitting, or is it two completely different problems. Senior Member gillenator Posted June 21, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted June 21, 2016 Bubba, I was able to get a better view from the last photo. The pitting is minor and using a derma roller may very well help to alleviate this. Try contacting Dr. Jerry Cooley in Charlotte, NC as he has a solid background in dermatology and also has done a great deal of corrective work. I did see some multi-hair bearing grafts on your hairline. Are you willing to share who your surgeon was?
