Scared about Propecia

This is likely to be the most embarrassing thing I'll ever put out there, but here it goes. Strangely, over the past 2-3 months I've been having a hard time getting erections and I'm having no morning wood. This came out of nowhere, and my best guess is that it's porn induced ed, so I've decided to quit that and I'm confident normal function will return since I've never had a problem before! However, I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday in order to get a propecia prescription. I'm very scared to start it because I don't know how I'll be able to tell if I'm having sexual side effects or not given my current predicament! I guess I could wait until I'm back to normal as far as sex life, but that could be weeks or months and my hair loss is really starting to accelerate.

Any advice??

Try to stay calm. If you get in your own head you'll have know idea what's influencing the behavior of your other head.

Some people respond well to Fin, some people have horror stories, some people fall in between. Some people don't mind being on meds indefinitely, some people do. As cliche as it sounds, it really is a personal decision you'll need to make.

For now, don't masturbate for a week so the other guy has a chance to come back alive. You probably just had a few off nights--even Michael Jordan had those every once in a while ;)

Pretty much the best advice anyone can give you even though it's not really what anyone wants to hear. It might be the fin, but I've had an extended bout of ED in the past that was purely psychological (long before I was ever on fin). Try your best to rid your mind of negative thoughts about it, I dare say before long the old boy will be standing to attention again!

All the best.

porn induced ed

According to Pubmed there is not a single published study linking pornography and erectile dysfunction. It is most likely a psychological issue that can be solved. Try to find out the real cause of erection problems or visit a specialist who may help you to solve the problem.

There can be lots of things that would cause this, from lack of sleep to stress to a major (or subtle) life change to exercice and diet. Point being, it could be caused by any number of things. I wouldn't let it deter me from trying out finasteride. Also, it's something you can discuss with your doctor to see what sort of advice he has and see if he can help you narrow down what the potential cause for this was in the first place.

I've had this happen to me periodically over the years and remember the freak outs very well. But every time, the problem resolved itself somehow and I learned really quickly that the last thing you need to do when this happens is stress out even more. The more you stress out, the more likely the problem will continue.

I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My views/opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.
