Regular Member jameslondon Posted February 23, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted February 23, 2016 i've been on the finasteride for 3 years. it seemed to stabilise hair loss but in the last year or so it seems to have stopped working has this happened to anyone else? i think i was on a different brand for the first year (private prescription - gp) and then on the dr reddy stuff the last two years if anyone could perhaps give any suggestions or their own experiences it would be helpful. am thinking that it may also be personal stress due to some difficult times in the last year or so really not sure and my current GP won't be any help
Senior Member Mikey1970 Posted February 23, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted February 23, 2016 I have seen it posted on this forum several times that the benefits of FIN are greatest in the first two years & can then plateau after that? Might be worth switching to Dutasteride if you are sure this is occurring? Good luck.
Regular Member jameslondon Posted February 23, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 23, 2016 i hadn't heard of that, but i did wonder if my body had become tolerant in some way of the medication i saw dutasteride mentioned on another thread - i'm going to check that out as an option, thanks for your help Mikey
Regular Member ForeverLacey Posted February 25, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted February 25, 2016 You mentioned private prescription then switching to Dr Reddy. Are you importing these from an online source? If so it may be possible these drugs are not legit which would explain why they appear to be losing effectiveness. If this is the case I'd suggest returning to your legit prescription again however, if you're sure you're import source is legit Dutasteride may help.
