If you are forty or younger, your prostate should fibrin normally, so you shouldn't see any benefit.

what about for those over 40?

Over forty you may start to develop prostate issues (more likely over fifty) and there may be a benefit, however, it can also mask signs of prostate cancer (I've read) as your PSA level can be artificially low, hiding the fact that you are showing signs that you need a biopsy. Your primary doctor should know are on finasteride and know that it can lower your PSA. You'll need to knew what your normal PSA number is so you know when you should be concerned. The danger is that you don't take in to account that you are on fin and your PSA number doesn't trigger your doctors concern until you are in later stages of a normally treatable prostate cancer.

These are the types of questions you'll want answered by your doctor.
