I am always asked if I would do it again

I have never made a secret that I was out of the office to get FUE 4 months ago. (I posted a few pictures today on my profile of the post-op as of today).

Every time I am asked about the procedure I am always asked if I am going to go back or would I do it again. When I first had the procedure I would quickly reply that I would never go through the post-op pain/sleepless nights/daily regimen, but I have changed to an extent.

I am seeing progress 4 months in and it is an improvement from my Norwood 5A-6 level from before. For my procedure I opted for 3,000 grafts on the horizontal of my head and left the vertical for a potential later surgery. If I continue to grow new graft over the next 8 months with the same growth as I have seen to date, then I think I have turned my beliefs about a future surgery around and will go back and get the vertical done as well.

If I do not continue to see growth then I will have viewed this procedure as a failure (based on cost and the amount of grafts I have had thus far) and would not go back again.

For those who have had multiple surgeries, did you go into your first session with the belief that one pass over a certain portion of your head would be enough or did you have the mindset that a second surgery would be needed? This is with the understanding that going in for a follow up surgery in a new section would be a different scenario.

I'd expect another surgery to be completely satisfied. Yours is a very interesting case. Very developed Norwood, very conservative case, all fue. Looking forward to your results, although, I feel like there isn't anything to lose by saying who did your work, it is what it is.

Good luck stewie at only 4 months and your seeing encouraging growth that's good.

Your right spanker in a ideal world patients should be able to start a thread without it be taken over by unnecessary bickering as happens in just about all MARAL related threads.

At least this way people can just comment on results not the doctor.

Good luck and maximum growth to you stewie.

Have a good day

From a realistic point of view, you are taking the best approach in finding how to effectively manage expectations. You can truly benefit from the procedure when you know and understand the limitations. I suspect that you should have an optimal yield as your regrowth continues into maturity. From the immediate post-op photos, I see that your density in the recipient looks very good.

The best aspect of the waiting period is that the hair arrives with subtlety so the psychological effects may slowly digest with you and those in close proximity to you. You will find that your goals slowly evolve and you develop more of a sense of determination to critique the results with each noticeable change in your appearance.

I have noticed that mostly the individuals with advanced hair loss arrive to the possibility that a subsequent procedure ultimately provides a touch-up opportunity. Depending on the approach for the initial procedure, usually individuals will designate their time and resources to the primary objective; however, the necessity for any additional surgery is usually considered by most individuals who desire less conservative density. Congratulations on the early growth!
