Dr. Richard Keller/Chicago/3,400 Grafts

Recommended Posts

This 30 year old patient had concerns with his mid-scalp and frontal hairline. The majority of the 3,400 grafts were placed in the mid-scalp and anterior scalp. His crown was improved. Post-op photos are from this out of state patient who was unable to return for a follow-up appointment. He is approximately one year post-op. In his photos his hair is wet, combed back and shorter. The patient is pleased with his results.

In my opinion the pictures do a poor job of telling the story here. Definitely need post op pics showing where the grafts went. The before/after comparison is not good because of the difference in hairstyles. If he had the same hair style in both pictures, it's unclear how much difference there would be. I suspect there's improvement, but again it's very unclear in my opinion. Apples to oranges comparison.

Attached is an immediate post-op photo showing graft placement. There is a significant difference in the before and after photos. I have no control over how this patient styles his hair & thought the pictures were worth sharing. As I stated this patient from California sent post-op photos which were taken with his hair wet and combed back. (Being wet & combed back shows more of his hairline than if it was combed down and dry).

Thank you for looking at the post.

Thanks for sharing the immediate post op pic. Looks like the hairline was lowered and temple point work was done too. I wonder how many grafts went into the crown, it didn't look like he had much loss in the crown originally though.

I agree overall there is a big improvement in the appearance of his hair. But there is also a big improvement in the appearance of my hair from the time I wake up, to the time I style it in the bathroom a few minutes later. It looks like the preop pics were taken in the office with the hair arranged to emphasize the hairloss. The pics taken by the patient were taken under a more favorable hairstyle.

From what I can tell the front of the hairline looks good but there's no good shots of the temple corners and the crown is hard to evaluate because of the difference in hairstyles.
