Stabilised Hair Loss?

When people talk of having 'Stabilised hair loss' ( with Propecia mainly ) Is this meaning hair loss has stopped or slowed down? Can you have stabilised hair loss that is still thinning but at a slower rate? I'm a bit confused as to what people mean when they talk about the importance of having stabilised hair loss before a transplant.

Hi London,

Stabilised should mean that you have halted your loss and hopefully if someone is taking Propecia and it is effective you should halt or significantly slow down the loss. Of course this isn't always the case for every patient and some will continue to loss hairs. You can never be 100% sure that is has totally stabilised but the only way you are really going to know if you have stabilised your loss is to take some photos today in good lighting and then some consistent photos in 6 months.

If you were loosing a lot of hair every day when washing your hair or on your pillow or when brushing your hair etc before you took the medication you should have a good idea whether it is being effective as you should visibly loose less hair.

I've been on Propecia for 7 years, prior to this I was loosing hairs every time I comb in, washed it etc. This has been a lot better since being on propecia and although my hair is thinning it's hardly changed in about 7 years so I think Propecia is slowing this down. I'd stay it's stable although not halted completely. Thanks for the advice!

how many do you lose now, on a daily basis, approximately?

(I've been on Propecia for a couple years straight.. still losing some every day, but much less than before Propecia).

Paulygon is a former patient of Dr. Parsa Mohebi

My regimen includes:

HT #1 2710 grafts at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration in Los Angeles in 2012

Rogaine foam 2x daily, since 2012 (stopped ~10/2015)

Finasteride 1.25mg daily, since 2012 (stopped ~12/2015)

HT #2 3238 grafts at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration in Los Angeles in Jun. 2016

Started Rogaine and Propecia in July. 2016 after being off of them for about a year.
