Need help in hair transplant

Dear All,

Am 31yrs Single from Bangalore. I have been suffering from hair loss since 7years. I tried Homeopathic treatment and then used Minoxidil/Mor F for one year. There was no use.

Now my stage has reached to NW6. So I decided to go for HT.

First I consulted with doctor VIMS, they said only 1800 grafts can be extracted. And it can cover the front head. So he suggested not to undergo.

Then I consulted Venkataram Mysore. He investigated for more than 15min. Then he said 2500 to 2800 can be extracted. With this frontal head and partial at top can be covered. He showed some of the photos. They were good.

He asked me to use some of the medicines which activates the hair in back and top of the head. Those lotions were Keratexyl , Q-sera.

The cost per graft is 45rs. and 12.5% tax

Initially we have to pay 10k and book for HT. I asked doctor to show some patients, so that I could get more confidence. Then said he would arrange to dicuss with patients who had undergone HT only after booking for HT.

So I have a confusion whether to undergo transplant or not. So Please suggest me for below queries

1) Are these medicines are harmfull ( Keratexyl and Q-sera lotions)

2) Does it look good if i get transplant only in frontal side of the head?

3) Is body hair transplant successful?

4) How many months required for complete growth which can combable?

5) What will happen to the mark at backside? is it permanent and visible?

6) Is FUE possible after FUT?

First off, sorry about your present situation and the depression/anxiety you are experiencing. I will try and answer your questions as best as possible.

1.) I really doubt that there is anything to worry about with these medications. If they are something being prescribed/recommended by a physician you are probably okay. I would look them up online to get additional information before you begin any treatment anyway.

2.) As long as you have realistic expectations on what this is going to achieve for you....then I'd say it's possible. However, I personally wouldn't be happy without a full head of hair, so I can't say that I'd go through a procedure (Time and Money), to have results that are less than I would want. That would make me even more depressed, and personally I'd rather just shave my head entirely.

3.) There are several cases of successful BHT's on these forums. Have a look throughout the various threads....because I certainly think that it is an option for some people. Keep in mind though that at a NW VI, you would need a LOT of coverage on top to cover all that scalp......so again, you need to have fairly realistic expectations before you proceed with ANY procedure.

4.) You are not going to get an "accurate" assessment of how successful your procedure is until at least 12 months after. Most people will have noticeable growth by 6-9 months, but I wouldn't say you'd see the final result until 18 months or so post-op!!

5.) I'm confused on what is being asked here? Are you asking about the markings they use to map out your hairline/graft placement design, or are you talking about the scar that is left from a hair transplant?!

6.) Many patients (myself included) are eligible to receive both FUSS and FUE. Once your FUSS reserves are exhausted, many physicians can get extra grafts from FUE....that they couldn't from the strip procedure. As you mentioned, you also have the possibility of body hair to use on top of the other two.....so you have a few options.

The only advice I have for you, is don't jump into this. I'd spend some time in the forums and do some more research before you spend the time and money. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but based on your consultations with the doctors you've already seen, your options for graft extraction from your head (your donor area) seems limited. It will be important to have REALISTIC expectations. Also, and this is my honest opinion, the physician who told you that he would share patient "befores" and "afters" with you AFTER you booked your procedure, should be eliminated from your list. I wouldn't ever trust a clinic with my head or my money, who couldn't provide me those resources immediately upon my request. A good practice should have ZERO to hide.....so I would urge you to strongly reconsider booking with that particular establishment.

Hope that helps a little. Best of luck, and keep us posted on what you decide!

Mike

The number of grafts they are looking to give you is not nearly enough to get you where you would want to be cosmetically-- at that rate, it would be a long road to get the result you would want. A rule of thumb is for every Norwood level, 1000 grafts are needed per the level you are. In other words you would want 6000+ (NW6 x 1000) grafts to get coverage.

I would do a lot more research and and stay away from any doc that is not recommended here.

My initial HT thread:

done and done!! Check it out...

You will need at least 4000 to 5000 grafts to get the results you might be looking for. And as mike said a doctor would offer what he can do to be considered a good ethical one. I would not go with this doctor.

Once you are in India (or at least familial with India), why not consider Dr. Bhatti, or if you are willing to travel why not Turkey, Dr. Dogany is recommended in this website. Good Luck man in whatever you end up doing...,

bnghair2013,

Welcome! You've received some excellent advice here. Before rushing into anything, you should carefully resarch the procedures and any physicians you are considering. Consult with several more surgeons, including those recommended by the Hair Transplant Network.

In India we recommend Dr. Pathuri Madhu and Dr. Radha Palakurthi. If you would consider the possibility of traveling outside of India, I recommend consulting our interactive map.

You can also schedule free online consultations with any of our recommended physicians.

To learn about our criteria for recommending physicians, click here.

Finally, if you'd like to see examples of hair transplant results on NW VI patients, click here.

Best of luck!

Dear agenteye,

Thank you very much for your valuable detailed reply.

Regarding the 5th question, I was worried about the scar at donor area. The doctor I consulted with told it would remain permanently and it would be visible when we trim the hair. So my doubt is that whether the scar looks bigger and ugly?

And the other thing is, I am not expecting densed hair. Atleast it should not look bad even after my HT. now itself am verymuch less confident and depressed. If it doesn't make me better, I may feel very low abbout myself.

Thank you very much.

I had a HT with Dr Bhatti 7 days ago, amazing experience, I was expecting to extract 4000 but he said only 3000, and then wait 2 years and come back and get another 1500 - 2000 extracted, what I am trying to say that Dr Bhatti is a realist, a very honest and respectable Dr, highly recommend him. You wont regret it, Im sure he'll work some long term plan for you as well. He is now specialising in BHT / FUE so I am sure he can get a decent look for you, and help you get over your depression, hang in the buddy

Hi All,

Last week I had visited Vizag for Hair Transplant consulation with Dr.Radha.

Doctor examined my Donor area and Recepient area. Since the Donor area is less and recepient area is more, she said she would be able to extract 3000 grafts. and transplant 35grafts per sq cm.

I have attached a photo which shows the actual receipient area ( marked) with the available hair.

Please suggest me whether to go ahead for the hair transplant?

Since the density will be 35 grafts per sq cm, am scared that it will look ugly than now.

Please reply me urgently.....

I would not go for FUT. I do not want to live the rest of my life with a visible scar (with the possibility of the scar stretching) on the back of my head. You will never be able to cut your hair short! If I were you I would do FUE with Dr. Bhatti at Chandigarh. He is capable of giving you good results!. His results are all over the internet and on this forum too. He does body hair transplant as well! I believe you need the combination for best results.

All the best.
