Once healed, how much scarring in donor area?

About a year after a HT, once there has been time to heal, what does the actual scalp area typically look like underneath the new hair?

 

I know for the first few months post op there is redness and such. Once fully healed I imagine there must be some scarring, but how visible is it? I'm curious what kind of options there are later on down the road if further hair loss occurs and one does not want to, or is unable to, go for more HTs. If you were to shave down the transplanted hair to a complete 0, what would the scalp look like? Is there any going back?

Oops I read this again and the title is kind of confusing. I meant to write "recipient area", not "donor area". I think the rest of the post makes sense though. I know there will always be visible scarring in the donor area (for FUE, white dots; for FUT, a line) but I'm curious about the recipient area. It's very hard to see any such scarring there as, well, there's transplanted hair there!

If you are going to a good doctor and not a butcher there will be zero visible scarring in the recipient area. If you shave the recipient area you will not see scarring, the donor scarring is what makes shaving down not possible. My thoughts are until a treatment comes out that is scarless, like what Dr. Wesley is working on, if you think you may want to shave your head later, then just shave your head now. Save your money and your time and just shave down.
