Regular Member DaSpiv Posted May 14, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted May 14, 2013 When would the the minimum reccomended period one could wear a baseball cap after surgery ? I am talking about FUT where one would have the large sutured cut across the back of the head. The majority of grafts would be filling in the top with a few in the hairline. Senior Member greatjob Posted May 14, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted May 14, 2013 (edited) you can wear a hat right after surgery as long as it doesn't ever contact the grafts, you will also want to have an adjustable or oversized hat as their will be significant swelling Edited May 14, 2013 by greatjob
Senior Member Nick153452 Posted May 14, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted May 14, 2013 To avoid some swelling, try sleeping at an angle for the first few nights so that the blood can more easily drain. Also, use an icepack for about 15-20 minutes every 3 hours on your forehead (not where your grafts are, but more in the eyebrow area). Regular Member Hair2d2 Posted May 16, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted May 16, 2013 Ice packs do wonders to keep the swelling under control and reduce the time you will need to recover from the fat face effect Keep a good rotation of them in the freezer at all times. Senior Member SV_08 Posted May 17, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted May 17, 2013 When would the the minimum reccomended period one could wear a baseball cap after surgery ? I am talking about FUT where one would have the large sutured cut across the back of the head. The majority of grafts would be filling in the top with a few in the hairline. I waited a week, until the sutures were removed. Then I bought a baseball cap one size larger (normally wear 7-3/4. Bought 7-1/2). Wore it almost daily, or whenever I was around people. Never had problems and was never uncomfortable. HT2 - March, 2013. 2933 grafts. HT1 - June, 2006. 800 grafts.
