Senior Member Spanker Posted March 4, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted March 4, 2013 I have done some searching, but I haven't really found any good answers. So, I have a few questions: How long is minoxidil good for? Has anyone had any severe adverse reactions? I ask because I have been reading that it can cause acromegaly. I already have cutis verticis gyrata, which I have read also is a possible side affect. I maaaaaay be noticing some increase in the severity of my CVG but I am not sure. I will have to keep an eye on it. So again, just wanted to see if anyone has experienced any severe (more than dandruff) side effects related to the skin, and I wanted to know how long minoxidil works. Not sure I want to take it for life if I am only gonna get about 3 years of use out of it. I'd rather be 3 years behind and not worry about any kind worsening condition of my CVG due to minoxidil, but I don't want to be unduly weary due to a study that was done on one patient either. Opinions are welcome. I am an online representative for Dr. Raymond Konior who is an elite member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. Senior Member TommyLucchese Posted March 4, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted March 4, 2013 I started 2% liquid minoxidil in October 2005 Started 4% a year later Started 12.5% cream in March 2010 Now I've just started 5% foam No adverse reactions and it still seems to be working 2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now. Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018. Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week. Mackey
I've been using minox foam for a at least few years now and haven't experienced any adverse effects. When I go off it or run out I have more fall-out. Based on my experience it hasn't caused CVG in any way. Good luck in your investigation bro.
