Thud1941
Hello, I just had my second FUE with Dr. Gabel of Hillsboro Oregon yesterday and wanted to share some of my thoughts and experiences. About 2 months ago I had a small test area done to see how I would heal, to assess scarring and such. I had 50 FUE grafts taken out of the back of my neck and inserted into the top front of my scalp. The area where the grafts were taken from healed in just a few days, and in a week nobody could tell that I had anything done to the back of my head. I am in the military and I have to wear my hair short, and even then people couldnt tell...including the lady who cuts my hair. The top of my head took a little longer to heal, but about 3 weeks post op, my scabs had dissapeared, and it just looked like I had a patch of shorter hair mixed in with my regular (thinning) hair. Yesterday I had 300 grafts done, and the back of my head seems to be healing faster than it did before. I am excited to finish the healing process and have the hair grow in normalish. I have opted to work my way up to a larger transplant, the first test was 50, second was 300 and my next one will be around 500-600. Depending on how I look I will probably stop there. I do not want all of my hair back, I just want to look like a regular mid twenties guy. I will start a blog and attempt to attach before and after pictures to it. Overall I would say that my experience was great. Dr. Gabel's office was nice, and him and his staff took great care of me. I was never uncomfortable and never pressured. Before Dr. Gabel, I had a consultation with a Dr. who I had been referred to by the hair club for men. His assistant pressured me and I kind of felt like I was buying a car instead of making an important decision about my body that would effect me for the rest of my life. Dr. Gabel on the other hand advised caution about my decision, and suggested a smaller test area to see how it would turn out.

Regular Member Howzer28 Posted March 17, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted March 17, 2009 I've had two of my 3 transplants with Dr. Gabel. I too am in the military and am conscious of how my hair is and of the resulting FUT scar. His sewing work is great! His staff is friendly and takes care of your pre-op, op and post-op needs. I felt in good hands. What really took me back however was his willingness to fly from Portland to Seattle and take out my stitches. Like I said in my other posts, I am sure he gets a tax write-off, but geeze, it's still a pretty awesome service and it saved me money not having to go back to Portland or find another doctor. Oh and if you do choose Dr. Gabel - eat the Mexican food for lunch - AMAZING!

Thud1941
Day 4 and I am doing good. No pain at all and the place where they took the grafts from is now almost unnoticeable. Cant wait until the 3 month point where the hair grows back after falling out initially.

Thud1941
Well today is day nine and things are still going good. The transplanted hairs are growing, and it almost looks like I got a haircut in basic training and the hair is short and prickly. It has made my hairline look a lot thicker..however I am planning and waiting for it to fall out. Its just kind of cool to see the initial growth.
