Regular Member Bronte Posted February 26, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted February 26, 2013 I was wandering what effect Nizorel and minoxidill might have on fading the ink premature. From all reports I have read so far the better you protect smp from sun and shampoos the longer it will last..So I would assume minoxidill could fade the temporary ink quicker than without using it.anyone tested this theory? Senior Member TommyLucchese Posted February 26, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted February 26, 2013 Just saw a post from Spex in a thread say that minoxidil is alcohol and can make the SMP fade quicker. 2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now. Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018. Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week. Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted February 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted February 27, 2013 Like Tommy said, the alcohol in minoxidil will cause the temporary ink to fade faster. If you did want to use both (temporary SMP and minoxidil), I would use minoxidil foam because it has a lower alcohol content. Regular Member fixstrip Posted February 27, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted February 27, 2013 Is that if applied diectly on the micropigmentation, or any injestion? I guess thats a question that would be tough to answer. At this point Im trying to decide whether or not GLI is a wise choice for me.
Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted February 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted February 27, 2013 Strip, I suppose if you ingested the minoxidil in a tablet/pill form, instead of applying a topical solution to the scalp, the fading effect would not occur. However, as of now, oral minoxidil is not a proven treatment for androgenic alopecia. What's more, in tablet/pill form, it's a very serious medication and should be THOROUGHLY reviewed with a physician before taken.
