How many days post-op should you wait before starting Rogaine regimen?

I am one week post-op today.

Hasson-Wong told me yesterday I could start back on Propecia now and they suggest waiting two weeks post-op to restart with Rogaine.

Steelblue, I would just contact Dr Gabel.

I am sure he will be willing to answer any post op questions for you.

Based on vast research and meeting patients, I travelled to see Dr Feller in New York to get repaired.

Shampoo - Did H&W advise that you discontinue use of Propecia until a week after surgey? I never heard of a doc suggesting this.

Can't decide I am looking at my Hasson/Wong pre-op instructions and it reads:

Rogaine/Minoxidil must be stopped 2-3 months prior to surgery.

But yeah you're right it does not say anything about Propecia.

I just remembered now that you ask, that someone on this message board posted a study showing a possible relationship between Propecia and Low Blood Platelet count (which I have).

So about 3 months ago which also happened to be 3 months before my surgery I decided to go off Propecia to see if my platelet count would rise.

A few weeks ago I went to my hematologist for my yearly blood test and my blood platelets were still slightly low and unchanged.

So since I had been off Propecia for 3 months before the surgery (and they knew this) I wanted to make sure it was ok to go back on since my surgery was one week ago today. I asked and they said yes for Propecia and wait another week for Minoxidil.

But you are correct, it looks as though under normal circumstances patients would not need to stop taking Propecia in regard to a surgery.
