Senior Member AdamAJ Posted July 4, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 4, 2012 I used paint to give an idea of what I would want. I would love to have sideburns like The Rock did back in the late 90s or Elvis in 1968. How many grafts do you think I would need? How do you think it would look after its grown in? I turn 28 July 21st so people saying wait till you get older because it will grow in is nonsense.
Senior Member aaron1234 Posted July 4, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 4, 2012 It's hard to say because it looks like the desired transplanted area is shaven. I'm sure you're not completely bare there. Try growing out your beard hair for a week or so and it'll give us a better idea of how many grafts you may need. Generally, facial hair transplants require less density then the top for obvious reasons. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted July 4, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 4, 2012 Ah, I see. Well, then you may need quite a few (approaching at least 1K I'd guess - if not more) and you'd have to decide whether or not those grafts are better served on top for if and when you need them. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted July 4, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 4, 2012 Sure thing. It also depends on whether you wanted to transplant hair throughout your entire beard region which would require even more grafts. But given the areas you painted I would guess around 400-500 each side. Again, that's just a guess. A clinic rep may give you a more certain response. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted July 4, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 4, 2012 One other note: I have come across patients who have used thousands of grafts for their facial hair. I'm only cool with that if they are NW2's or better.
