Regular Member newguy28 Posted June 12, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted June 12, 2012 Hi All, I recently (end of May) had a 2700 FUE procedure done w/ Dr Rahal and everything appears to be going well. I am looking to keep my hair short as I eagerly wait for the results. I was wondering how short I could shave my head? I have read some mixed comments but am still unsure. I was looking to use a 0 guard and shave it all but I do not want my donor area to show little dots.... Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!! Senior Member chrisdav Posted June 12, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 12, 2012 Try it, it is the only way to find out. It won't take long to grow back. 2 poor unsatisfactory hair transplants performed in the UK. Based on vast research and meeting patients, I travelled to see Dr Feller in New York to get repaired. Senior Member irishsailor Posted June 12, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 12, 2012 Why not maybe take it down to a grade 3 and assess it and then work your way down in grades til your happy and confident you cant see any dots. Congrats on your HT with Rahal he's a great surgeon Hair Transplant Dr Feller Oct 2011 Hair Transplant Dr Lorenzo June 2014
Senior Member Sparky Posted June 12, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 12, 2012 Dr Rahal is a good doc, so there should be minimal white dot scarring (there will be some) Do as chrisdav says and shave right down, would only take a few days to go from 0-1 and not long to hit a 2-3. Senior Member chrisdav Posted June 12, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 12, 2012 Another alternative is If you can get a friend to shave it to a 3, then have a look, then try a 2 grade etc, until you start to see the dots. 2 poor unsatisfactory hair transplants performed in the UK. Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted June 13, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 13, 2012 New, At a zero guard, you may be able to see some signs of the "dots" in the back of your scalp. However, it's very likely (like others are saying) that you could shave it down to a 3 (or so) without any obvious indications that you've undergone surgery. Congratulations on the procedure, by the way! Dr. Rahal's FUE work is truly top-notch, and this should only help with the post-operative camouflage! Senior Member mattj Posted June 13, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 13, 2012 Hey newguy28, Please make sure you follow Dr Rahal's instructions regarding haircuts post-op and don't do it too soon. After that you can experiment. When everything has totally healed (including any redness) you should be able to go very short. I am a patient and representative of Dr Rahal. Regular Member newguy28 Posted June 14, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 14, 2012 Thanks All.. Matt - I have spoken to the team when I had my transplant done.. I had my surgery on May 30 and we discussed buzzing my head around June 24 which was was deemed sufficient. The redness is already minimizing which is great to see.. Prior to me leaving Ottawa, I met with the team who mentioned I was healing much quicker then normal.. However - i am still taking all the precautions over the next few weeks (and following instructions closely).. I am wondering what is the lowest guard that people have gone with an FUE? My crown is still quite bald so was hoping to blend it in as much as possible. Also wanted to make sure i don't disrupt the transplanted hair.. Thanks!!
