FUE Scalp Laxity

Hi,

 

I have extremely low scalp laxity in the area between my ears. Compared to friends, my scalp barely moves up and down when I press my fingers against it and try and move it. It also feel less fleshy.

 

I dont see how a FUT procedure could be done, and that's ok, I would have been worried about the FUT scar, even if i had the perfect scalp. However, I am wondering if this kind of scalp is an issue with FUE procedures? Now I know ideally I should go for a consultation with an FUE doc, but I don't live near one, and am in the early stages of planning and saving. I'd hate to save up full of hope, and then find at the consultation that I wasn't a candidate all along.

 

Any information would be appreciated.

Scalp laxity isn't important when having fue but the only draw back is you may have a successful fue ht but then in a few years get aggressive hair loss which leaves you with a island of ht hair on your head and not enough donor to fill in the gaps to the island due to the fact the thousands of grafts most people can get through strip are not available to you. Good thing is you can shave your hair to a blade 1 after fue without revealing the extractions in the donor so you could shave your whole head to a blade 1 but it usually looks better completely shaved off when you have bald areas. I personally would have just shaved my hair off than go down the transplant route with no scalp laxity to chase my hairloss later in life.

Our medical director Parsa Mohebi, MD invented a simple state of the art device the laxometer that improves the exactness in measuring scalp laxity. You are correct in noting that scalp laxity does have a correlation to scar minimization.

The scalp only needs to be stretchy for FUT so that the donor strip can be removed and (with less tension) the scar can heal to a minimal width. With FUE, laxity isn't an issue.
