  1. Hi, I have extremely low scalp laxity in the area between my ears. Compared to friends, my scalp barely moves up and down when I press my fingers against it and try and move it. It also feel less fleshy. I dont see how a FUT procedure could be done, and that's ok, I would have been worried about the FUT scar, even if i had the perfect scalp. However, I am wondering if this kind of scalp is an issue with FUE procedures? Now I know ideally I should go for a consultation with an FUE doc, but I don't live near one, and am in the early stages of planning and saving. I'd hate to save up full of hope, and then find at the consultation that I wasn't a candidate all along. Any information would be appreciated.
  2. I'm a 29 year old male and have been losing my hair in a NW2/3 pattern for about 9 years. Its been a relatively slow process compared to others and didn't seem to be the end of the world as it receded into natural patterns. By this i mean that while the spot where my hairline meets the side of my head has gotten progressively higher, my hairline from the centre of my forehead to the sides was still diagonal, so still looked relatively natural. However my last (small) loss on one side has left a strange zig zag pattern that really does not look good. Basically my hairline starts in the usual place in the middle of my forehead, goes up in a natural diagonal, then is vertical for about 1-2 cms, then starts to go in a natural diagonal, then goes vertical again for about a cm, then joins the side of my head. I've estimated through measurements that the toal area to be covered to make it look more natural is only about 3 square cms, maybe 6 if I wanted to make it even more natural. Given that implanting density seems to vary from 50-80 FUs per square cm, it means I would only need a session of 150 minimum to 480 maximum. This seems a very small session, would a doctor (preferably Rahal) be bothered with a session this small? And does anyone know what the cost of a small session would be?
  3. Hey, I have been taking finasteride in the form of proscar for 2 years now. After a year I noticed no effect so tried increasing from 1/4 to 1/2 proscar. Again for a year and no noticeable effect or slowdown. I recently tried the full pill (5mg of finasteride), as even though the studies say it doesn't help, I thought I would give it a shot anyway. So after 2 weeks I experienced some testicle pain, but my main concern is an increase in hair loss. I do not mean shedding, as this always sounds to me like people's hair thins for a while. I have literally lost more hair in my hairline, accompanied by the pain that I usually feel. It hasn't thinned, it is completely gone. Now normally I would think it was a part of my natural hairloss, but I generally lose a patch of hair overnight every 4-6 weeks. However, the last loss came after less than a week. Is it possible that this is different to normal shedding, and is a result of higher testosterone and more DHT? If I get my levels checked by a doctor what should I be looking for?
  4. Hey all, I am a 27 year old guy who has been experienceing hair loss since I was 20. Its been a slow process that seems to be different from many people's experiences. Every 2-3 months I will get sharp pains at my temple-area-hairline, the next day a section of hair has thinned, and the thinned area then fals out completely over the next few weeks. I have been on finasteride and rogaine for at least a year now and there has been no noticeable difference. I still get the pain, and I still lose small strips of hair. This wasn't the end of the world as the hairline receded in a relatively natural pattern, and I have noticed that most people don't look at your hairline unless there is a serious problem. However, my latest loss in the past week is a step too far for me, and I am finally unhappy with my hairline. However I have a few problems. Firstly, my scalp at the back is extrememly tight. If you drew a straight line from between the tops of my two ears, below this line the scalp barely moves (in fact I would say it doesn't move at all, maybe millimetres). Above this line, it moves relatively freely and the side of my head moves quite freely. I have no way of having a HT doctor check this as I am in Ireland and the only decent doc here charges 200 euro for a consult. I have been considering going to Rahal, but would hate to put a deposit, and pay for plane and accomodation, only to find that my scalp rules me out from a HT. Has anyone heard of situations where someone is completely ruled out due to bad laxity? Secondly, I ahve noticed that with Rahal's work on NW 2/3 patients that he does not just fill in the temples. He also lowers the hairline of the still existing hair in the centre of the forehead (the part that looks like a peninsula coming form the back of the head). Is this so there won't be an obvious difference between the natural density of peninsula and the transplanted density of the temples? Or is it a request by the patients to have a lower hairline? I will try and post some pics later on today to give you an idea of my concerns. Thanks.
