youngdoc Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 (edited) Hi guys, would appreciate your opinion on how to proceed. 29 y/o and have been experiencing some thinning which has been more aggressive over the last 6 months or so. Started minoxidil 5% twice daily since 1st Dec 2011 and after initial shedding things have improved slightly (i think!). Hair line has diminished on the right side more than the left which i found odd. I may be a diffuse thinner with miniaturisation? Would appreciate some feedback as to how to proceed from here. Thanks Edited March 15, 2012 by youngdoc
Senior Member Thehairupthere Posted March 15, 2012 Senior Member Posted March 15, 2012 You are at the beginning stages of thinning and your crown seems to have taken the worst of it, but from what I see you don't seem to be a surgical candidate right now. Instead I would suggest containing with rogaine for a full year and start propecia which also can help especially in the crown. If you haven't already consult with a recommended doctor from the forum. I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. These opinions are my own. youngdoc Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Thanks, rogaine i have started but am wanting to avoid propecia. There is definite thinning of the crown aswell as frontal areas.
Senior Member Thehairupthere Posted March 15, 2012 Senior Member Posted March 15, 2012 I definitely suggest starting propecia but that's up to you. I would recommend using meds for a year and then reevaluate. I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. These opinions are my own. Senior Member NEWHAIRPLEASE Posted March 16, 2012 Senior Member Posted March 16, 2012 See what the meds do for a year, you may experience significant growth..IMHO, the only reason you are not a candidate is because you just started meds...other than that you seem to be an ideal candidate for surgery!!
