Medications - Need your comments ...

Hello,

I underwent 2600 grafts FUT done last week. I have posted pictures you can look at in my profile. I have never taken any medications for hair loss before. I have level 4 of hair loss.

 

I have been given below prescription:

 

1) Mupirocin Ointment for Sutured Area for 2 weeks

2) Hexilak Silicon Gel for Scar Modulation for 2 months (Start this 2 weeks after surgery)

3) Folliderm (Biotin and Mineral Tablets) for 3 months (Start this 1 week after surgery)

4) Finasteride Tablets 1 mg for lifetime (Start this 1 week after surgery)

5) Minoxidil & Aminexil Topical Solution 5% for lifetime (Start this 1 week after surgery)

 

I want to know if this prescription is common or if anything is missing? I want to know what everyone else is taking as this medications are for lifetime. I want to prevent hairloss, possibly save damaged hair, possibly grow hair in top or temple area, improve thickness,etc. I want to know what everyone takes?

 

Are this medications available in US over the counter or do I need prescription for it?

You will need a prescription for finasteride

minodoxil and biotin won't needone.

I would be interested in knowing the reason why you were told to wait one week to start taking the Finasteride.
