  1. Thanks for your replies. I feel its reasonably good density considering in how much area its applied. If you look closely in center, there is a patch of original hair and not transplanted hair. But, I know I will need atleast one more surgery to give more density to top and crown area and if I lose more of my original hair which is definately possible, I will need more grafts...Lets see how it looks in 6-9 months after transplanted hair grows and also I am taking medication for first time, so will see what it does to my original hair which are damaged.
  2. I wanted to know how safe it is to wear cap 10 days after the surgery? I don't have baseball cap and cannot get it here in India, but my cap is reasonably lose and not very tight. By 10 days are roots tight and its safe enough to wear cap? Thanks
  3. Hello, I underwent 2600 grafts FUT done last week. I have posted pictures you can look at in my profile. I have never taken any medications for hair loss before. I have level 4 of hair loss. I have been given below prescription: 1) Mupirocin Ointment for Sutured Area for 2 weeks 2) Hexilak Silicon Gel for Scar Modulation for 2 months (Start this 2 weeks after surgery) 3) Folliderm (Biotin and Mineral Tablets) for 3 months (Start this 1 week after surgery) 4) Finasteride Tablets 1 mg for lifetime (Start this 1 week after surgery) 5) Minoxidil & Aminexil Topical Solution 5% for lifetime (Start this 1 week after surgery) I want to know if this prescription is common or if anything is missing? I want to know what everyone else is taking as this medications are for lifetime. I want to prevent hairloss, possibly save damaged hair, possibly grow hair in top or temple area, improve thickness, etc. I want to know what everyone takes? Are this medications available in US over the counter or do I need prescription for it? Thanks
  4. It was 40 INR / graft which is approx $0.8/graft. I am sharing the cost as doctor has it on his website and he doesn't bargain. Its fixed price.
  5. thanks for your reply everyone....i will see results of medicines and HT for 9 months to 1 yr and then consider my future HTs..probably get some advice from this forum for it.. aaron1234 - Doctor recommended gel on donor area after first 2 weeks...and i have to apply for 2 months..is 2 months good enough? after two months, doctor has prescriped me nothing on donor area...do i need to do anything for scar? Thanks..
  6. Thanks for your reply...This is what my doctor has recommended too..He is hopeful that medicines will help with remaining area where there is no transplant as he feels hair is still not completely lost in this area...But results of medicines is not as predictable as the HT... Also, 2600 grafts are not transplanted in complete front portion. If you see picture, there is a big circle in center where I still have my original hair...Still it might be over big area.. Anyways..thanks for response..I will keep everyone posted with my progress..
  7. Thanks for the reply. You mean in front portion it won't give enough coverage? Or middle and crown area where he didn't put anything. I have never used any medication normally used by everyone. I am starting to use it now. So, I want to see how it looks 9 months to 1 yr from now and then plan further surgery.
  8. Hello Everyone, I am 26yr old male, who started losing hair in past 2-3 yrs. I went through my first HT on Dec 28th, 2011 at Dr. Mysore's clinic in Bangalore. Even though he is not on list of doctors on this forum, he is reputed and experienced doctor. I have attached my before and after pictures. I had 1200 1 Hair, 900 2 Hairs and 500 3 Hairs transplanted, adding up to 2600 grafts and 4500 hairs. He took 27cm x 1 cm donor strip. As you can see in pictures, doctor brought my hairline forward, filling up frontal/parietal/vortex portion. He said that my top or crown area still has good portion of hair and he feels medicines will help to make it better or atleast retain what I have. He prescribed me Finax 1mg tablet and Hair 4 U 5% spray/lotion for long duration and Folliderm tablets for 3 months. He recommended Hexilak gel for sutured area for 2 months. (1) I will like to know your opinion on how it looks and what shall i expect in 6-9 months? Do you think I will need a surgery in Future? (2) Do I need to use the gel for sutured area only for 2 months? Is there anything I can do to reduce the scar mark? (3) Are this medicines/lotions, etc normally used available in US over the counter or do I need doctor prescription for it? Thanks.
  9. Thanks for your reply. I understand that I will need more then one sittings for optimum results. Does anyone else does extraction by FUT and FUE together in one sitting? How many grafts do you think I need? (Infact how many hairs ? Considering grafts can be 1 or 2 or 3 hairs ?) If I can have 3500 grafts in one sitting (around 7000 hairs roughly) , what will be the best strategy to follow if I don't plan to go for second sitting in next year or two ? Should I just cover front portion, and top portion or should I cover front and try to spread out grafts in top and behind? Please respond soon, as I am going for surgery in a month.
  10. Hello, Dr. Mysore from Bangalore does Mega sessions where he extracts hair using both FUT and FUE in one or two day surgery. He is very reputed doctor, though not listed on this community. (promotional link removed, read our terms of service) I have level 4 or 5 of baldness. I have attached pics. As per consultation with few doctors, I have been told that I need about 4000-4500 grafts, and they can do 2500-3000 in first session to cover front and little bit of top and another 1500-2000 session to cover top and back. But, Dr. Mysore says I need 3500 grafts to cover whole area with good density which he can do it in one session getting 2500-3000 from FUT and 500-1000 from FUE. What do you think? Does anyone have any experience with Mega Session? Any advice or recommendation on how many grafts I need? I want to cover maximum possible portion in one session because of time constraints. Thanks
  11. Hi, I am new to the forum. I live in US. I am a 26yr old guy. I am going to India in December and planning to get my hair transplant done. I have talked with Dr. Venkatarm Mysore and Dr Sreedhar Reddy Pothula. Both of them seem to have good experience, though both of them haven't talked much through email. Dr. Mysore offered option of doing FUT and FUE together and be able to covered all area ( I have Norwood 5 level of bald area). Though FUE method he said will cost 2.5X times more expensive. Can any of you share your experience with this doctors? I am considering Dr. Mysore, but not sure how with FUT and FUE together work out? Any experiences by anyone? I want to cover maximum possible area in one sitting, as I am not sure if logistics will work for me to go through multiple sittings. Thanks and Regards.
