Senior Member MyNameIsRich Posted December 28, 2011 Senior Member Posted December 28, 2011 I've read a lot of bad things about Soy products lately, that they are toxic and a big no no for males especially, as it fucks with their hormones and causes the production of Estrogen, DHT and therefore speeds up the MPB process... are their any other food types that I should be avoiding? Share some insight on this please Click to check my hair blog.
Senior Member RCWest Posted March 4, 2012 Senior Member Posted March 4, 2012 (edited) I've read the opposite. In studies, Soy Isoflavones can cut DHT production by 2/3! http://inhumanexperiment.blogspot.com/2009/05/soy-isoflavones-reduce-dht-increase.html Edited March 4, 2012 by RCWest Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1?
Regular Member shyshiny Posted July 14, 2012 Regular Member Posted July 14, 2012 Saw Palmetto has allegedly been found effective in blocking male testosterone which speeds up the balding process. You have to be so careful though about popping pills left right and centre because often the side effects or interactions with other bodily functions or medicines you are using can be dangerous. And of course the amount of misinformation on the internet is enormous.
Regular Member almostdone99 Posted July 25, 2012 Regular Member Posted July 25, 2012 What were the daily intakes that caused the adverse effects? For example: dose-response studies often show rats, or another human model, fed 10-1000 times the average human daily intake of the substance (soy in your example). I am not an expert with soy metabolites, but I know risk assessment well; I also know that if you ingest enough of practically any substance it becomes toxic.
