Regular Member OneHairLeft Posted November 21, 2011 Regular Member Posted November 21, 2011 I understand that for most the actual hairs fall out in a couple weeks, what I am wondering is what is the skin in the recipient area is going to look like for the 6 months to a year that it takes to grow in? Does the skin go back to normal after a bit or do you have to just suffer through looking kind weird for a good while? When can you go back to not wearing a hat or covering the recipient area and just look like you did before the transplant?
Senior Member orlhair1 Posted November 21, 2011 Senior Member Posted November 21, 2011 My skin had normal color by the time the grafts were shedding. This varies some from person to person. Are you generally a quick healer? If so, the redness will fade significantly by the two week mark and get better each day. I used a hat for the first couple months when I was outside to keep the sun off. Indoors, I just was not wearing a hat out after the first week. I grew my hair out long before my HT so I was able to cover everything up pretty well.
