Hi, was just curious to how long after a HT is it deemed safe to go to a hot climate on holiday?. I had my HT 3 weeks ago, but have just arranged to go to mexico in 3 weeks time:) Is 6 weeks long enough for the recipient area to heal before getting a tan? or is it better to keep a cap on when out in the sun?

Yes you are safe to go at this point usually for the first 4 weeks you need to be careful not to get sunburned on the recipient area. I would still urge you to apply protective lotion to the areas that were worked on just to be safe.

I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. These opinions are my own.

Spex,

Thanks for the advice mate, will keep a cap on when out in the sun. It was a last minute booking to go, just wanted to double check.

Thanks again:)

Good point Spex

Never though about the salt water and its healing properties!! Good reason to drive to the beach a couple of months after surgery!!
