Comments/Advice..Please- 600 grafts 1998...1500 grafts 6/2009

I am 39 yrs old and had my first transplant at age 27. At the time I lived in NYC and was modeling. I went to MHR and Dr. Leavit performed my procedure of 600 grafts. I must say I was very pleased!

Around 2005 I began to notice my hair was thinning and knew that I would need another transplant. 2009 I befriended someone at MHR in Atlanta and he worked a deal with a former Dr. to do a transplant after hours for a reduced price...lol Little did I know the reduced price was more or less close to reatail! I had 1500 grafts done on 6/2009 for $5,000. 00

Its now 2/2010 and I feel that the work is sub-par. I will attach pics for you guys to review and comment on. Today I emailed the Dr. in regrds to this procedure and I am awaiting his reply. Maybe I was expecting more of the area to be filled in. I just began my 8th month and hopefully will see a little more over the next 4 mos. Your comments are kindly appreciated. Btw contemplating an FUE session this year...hopefully this will do it!

Why do you feel you were ripped off?

 

If I had to guess, I would say the whole top of your head has equivalent to about 6-10K grafts of natural hair, prior to the procedure.

 

1500 grafts spread over the entire front is not going to provide much benefit, especially if planted in an area that already has a decent amount of hair.

 

 

To do your front and get it to "model" standards will require at least 4K grafts, maybe more.

 

I think you need to figure out if those grafts grew. If so, you got a great deal on them.

Thks for the comment. I guess I was expecting more. My gf said it doesn't look any different, therefore I decided to post to get feed back from you guys.

I am seriously contemplating an FUE session later this year. Hopefully that will fill in the areas that seem sparse.

I am currently on proscar(1/4 daily) and rogaine foam about 10x week. May purchase the nanogen scalp roller too. Btw I have the laser comb from hairmax but never use it.. Should I add it to my regimen?

Do you guys think a 3rd session of FUE will fill it in? How many?

I don't think it's bad. You're never gain to have thick hair, just work with it. Comb is forward and to the side a bit.

You should give the HT at least 1 year before deciding on another procedure. A lot of thickening/maturing can happen over the next 4 months.

I think your hair styled as it is now looks great. Were your previous procedures all strip? You say you did modeling before your ht; were you able to continue this post ht? I have always wondered if a ht could stand up to the high standards of your industry? With the right density I think your hair would be sweet for the do you want. Cheers

Thanks for the compliment. I guess I was being delusional to think that I would the hair I had at 25...lol

Thks for the reply. This weekend I emailed the Dr. and he gave me the tech's # that worked on me. Saw the guy today and he said exactly what you said. he pointed out that I have quite a bit of vellus hair just now growing and this may thicken up. He did say that 1-1200k in the front would definitely do the trick.

Thks for the reply. I was still modeling when I did the first ht..was 27 then. I only had like 600 grafts...all front to keep it thick. I was extremely happy till bout age 33...shouldve been on the Big 3 and probably would be much thicker now. I stopped modeling at 29. Btw my room mate was on a soap opera and has a ht...no one could tell...lol

I'm 39 now so modeling is a thing of the past. This is for my vanity/security. I was told today that if I had 1-1200 placed in front his should take care of the sparseness. Any Comments in regards to this?

Hair is like money, you never have enough of it.

 

Your 8 month pics look great. Wait til the 12-14month mark and then decide if you want more hair in front.

 

You cant make the decision now because it hasnt grown in. If you have the money and want even more hair, you can always do that.

Thks for advice. I guess I satrted getting paranoid and thinking this is the final result. I will take you guys advice and see how it looks in 4 mos. Does anyone reccomend using the hairmax laser? I have one but never use it.

It is great to hear what hair transplantation is allowing bald or balding men to achieve in such industries as modeling and film. 1-1200K from a good clinic in the front should take care of the sparse look & give you rock star hair to boot. However everybody knows I am a density junkie. Also I like Emperor think you should wait until your hair is all grown in before the next procedure. All the best
