Need help deciding on HT procedure and surgeon in India

Hi Friends,

I am 30 years old guy. I am looking forward to undergo a surgical procedure for HT. I have done some amount of research around various procedures and some of the surgeons.

However i would like to understand your opinion/experiences with these.

3 procedures and i guess those are the only ones that i have found,

1. FUT

2. FUE

3. One "FUE-only" clinics which claim to be scar less. (I don't think that's possible, may be less scarring than normal FUE)

After going through a bunch of discussion threads and blogs i think i can safely conclude that FUE is newer and more advanced procedure than FUT, plus the scarring is relatively less, though a little more costly. But i am open to opinions/suggestions if my understanding is wrong around this. Say for now we go ahead with FUE as the better suited procedure then if i have to compare normal FUE with the One "FUE-only" clinics, then i suppose the procedure by these "FUE-only" clinics is a little more advanced. However i would like to understand what are the pro's and con's between the FUE and "FUE-only" clinics procedures.

I did an hair loss analysis with one of the doctor's, who recommended i would need about 2000 grafts for good coverage. At the same time he mentioned if i need to go FUE way then in a single session (4-6 hrs) i can get about 500-600 grafts, which then means i will need to undergo multiple sessions. So when i compare this with one "FUE-only" clinics, which i believe is an improved version of FUE and they claim to be able to perform about 5000 grafts in a single session. I don't understand if the base procedure is the same how can there be such is a big difference in what is achievable.

Also i would like to understand what are specific differences between these 2 procedures FUE and one provided by these "FUE-only" clinics and whats the recommended approach to go with which gives the maximum results.

I am scheduled for an consultation with one of this "FUE-only" clinic's in Mumbai this week. Will try to understand more about their procedure and the surgeon.

However what i would like to know is if anyone in this forum has used the services of these "FUE-only" clinic's in Mumbai and has any experiences to share. Since procedure with these "FUE-only" clinics is pretty costly than the normal FUE, i want to be extremely cautious and be very sure about my hard earned money being well spent. Spending money is not an issue here, however i want to be guaranteed of the results.

Also i would be more than welcome if there are recommendations around other procedures and surgeons in India who i can explore.

Thanks in advance, looking forward from hearing from you.

The only person I would recommend you see is Dr. Madhu in India. Not sure what this "FUE only" technique is or how that is different than FUE, but FUE does have scars. The scars are very difficult to notice, they are small white dots in the donor area, and you can shave your head down to a number 1 on a razor and not have it be noticeable. For such a large session like 5000 grafts I would suggest looking into FUT as it's more efficient and you'll probably get better results.

I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. These opinions are my own.

Dr. Robert True and Dr. Robert Dorin are members of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians

Well, with "FUE-only" clinics i meant a global brand who do just these procedures but i cannot explicitly name them on this forum.

Say my requirement is between 2000 to 2500 grafts, which procedure FUE/FUT will give me the best results. With FUT i think with recent improvements around the way the strip is sutured i.e. via Trichophytic closure the strip mark is almost not visible.

Would like to understand more. Yes Dr Madhu is one of the best out here, however he has long waiting queue. I will have to wait at least 2-3 months before i get a date. Plus i am evaluating other options as well. If i dont find any better or equally good doctors i will wait for Dr. Madhu to get me a slot.
